Sound Fragments concludes

posted May 8, 2010 11:29 PM by Shannon Novak

Sound Fragments has officially ended and it has been an amazing experience in so many ways.

I would like to thank the participating galleries for taking a risk, and participating in this global art project - I am humbled by the support from you all, and see this project as an incredible success.

The completion of this project is a significant step forward in my ongoing exploration of the connections between colour, sound, and emotion.

Fantastic response from galleries

posted Feb 27, 2010 12:46 AM by Shannon Novak

There has been a fantastic response from galleries wishing to be a part of this installation both from within New Zealand and around the world. The details of those galleries that have so far confirmed their involvement are now listed in the 'Participating galleries' section. The support has been very encouraging so a big thank you to each of these galleries.

Also - I have added a document in the 'Media' section that provides concept sketches of the individual sound fragments that will appear in different locations in Sanderson Gallery for the duration of the installation.

Concept sketches for the installation space in Sanderson Contemporary Art, Auckland, New Zealand, are now available for download. They have been compiled in a single PDF document with a brief description of how the installation space in Sanderson Contemporary Art will appear on opening night, March 11 2010. This space will be home to the ‘focal point’ of the Sound Fragments installation – the point at which all sound fragments will emanate from.

Now that Phase 1 is only a month away, preparations are being made for all phases. The materials for Phase 1 have been gathered and are ready to be transformed into the sound explosion that will appear in the primary supporting gallery. In terms of Phase 2 and Phase 3 the aim is to begin approaching galleries next week (both inside and outside New Zealand) to measure interest in the Sound Fragments installation.
