Sound Beach Music itself was established in 1989; however, the driving force behind the band goes back many decades. Mel Dworkin (left), the drummer and band leader, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He learned music and became infatuated with the drums at a very early age. He went on to graduate from the Manhattan School of Music in 1959. He has been playing and performing nationwide with many top artists since that time. Yvonne Zottola (right), of the famous "Zottola Family," was born and raised in Port Chester, New York, along with her two brothers, Bob and Glenn. Being in such a musical family certainly had a great influence on her abilities. Her father, Frank Zottola, was an accomplished arranger, conductor and composer, in addition to founding the Zottola Mouthpiece Company. Her mother, Marie, was also a talented piano and accordian player. Naturally, Yvonne hit the stage at an early age, singing at numerous clubs throughout her teens. She eventually took a break from her career when she got married. After raising three children, she emerged back on the music scene in the late '80's. As fate would have it, Mel and Yvonne, both having lost their spouses, met up in 1988, got married, and went on to form Sound Beach Music.

For the last fifteen years we have played many different types of occasions and many different types of music. We are always well rehearsed and perform a wide variety of music including classic standards, swing and jazz standards, popular ballads, rock, pop, R&B, Motown and Latin.
