Hello and welcome to the website for International Café at the University of Southampton. If you've just arrived in the UK then a warm welcome to you, particularly if this is your first time here. We really hope that you enjoy your time here and can make some life-long friends. Pressure from exams, dissertations, assignments? Café is a great place to relax with friends and have a break from work - you'll be more productive for it! What is International Café?
International Café is run by students from the University of Southampton Christian Union specifically for international students and visiting scholars. It provides an opportunity to make friends from all across the world, practise speaking English in an informal environment, have fun and eat some cake. It's also great for learning about British culture and practices. Many older people and working/retired professionals from the local area are also involved in the summer months during pre-sessional courses.
Most weeks the café is centred around a theme such as a particular culture, sports, food or traditional British activity/celebration.
There are also regular trips around the UK throughout the year, some of which are residential. More details can be found on the Friends International website.
