- Check the attendance policy on your syllabus. Be sure you are within the limits allowed there.
- Write a short, polite email explaining that you'll be missing class for that day. No explanation is required if you are within the numbers of allowed absences on the syllabus. It is a good idea to ask for a response email if there is anything extra assigned for the following class, so that when you come back you won't be behind.
- Attach your classwork (SRP or any other homework) for that day to the email as a .doc, .docx, or .rtf file. This way if SRP folders are collected on the day you are gone, you will be allowed to turn yours in on the next class day without losing points.
- Arrange with someone from your class to get notes when you return, so you aren't missing any important class information when it comes time to study for exams.
