OUR BIG HOUSE, "Song of Ruth House":
~ is organized like a hostel, with three other quiet adults, as well as the two owners,
sharing the house. The landlady is a retired teacher who is home 99.9% of the time.
~ is for mature adults who respect privacy and quiet.
~ does not have a socializing or "common" room: People chat in the kitchen or in
passing or in the outdoor smoking area. People eat in the comfort of their rooms or
in the kitchen.
~ has every space used to accommodate the residents, the library, and the owner's
home-office in the entrance and hallway inside our house, therefore you will see that
it is fully packed with things needed to run Ruth's typing & tutoring business. It looks
cluttered, but it is a well-organized clutter.
~ is a "dry" house: no alcohol or illegal drugs, drunks, stoners, or illegal drug
sales are permitted on or near the property. Immediate eviction of violators.
~ is a smoke-free house: No lighting up matches or smoking things anywhere in the
property or outside on the property: If you smoke, smoking or even striking matches
Or lighters must be done at the outdoor smoking bench area or in the alley (House &
Mortgage Insurance rules).
~ has cats (one is long-haired) residing here. They don't go into the private rental rooms.
They have their own room called The Maui (Meowie) Room.
~ has plenty of parking on the well-lit street.
~ The landlady does not clean residents' rooms, as residents are responsible for cleaning
their own private areas.
~ We have a live-in hired custodian who helps keep the house clean.
BEFORE YOU PHONE, REMEMBER OUR RULES PLEASE:
1.) Quiet, mature, sober adults are the necessary qualifications for living in our
house.
2.) No additional dogs or cats; other kinds of pets in a tank or cage in your room
might be okay.
3.) No smoking on the property;

INTOXICATED ON ANYTHING. This is a safe, completely "dry" house. Sorry but we

residents enjoy.
5.) Quiet Hours: 10 pm to 10 am. -- no visitors after 10 pm.

8.) Living With Animals: Chilliwack is a farming town, and our house is a pet-loving house.

…………. bringing a family member or other person to join in with the door-pounding & yelling;
…………. having a police officer show up (the one-month notice law and policy will be restated, the police officer and we will suggest you go to the Rental Board, then the police officer will tell you to disperse and keep the peace);
…………. putting a slanderous post on craigslist (you will be reported and "flagged").

ABOUT THE MAUI COT SPACE: PLEASE NOTE HOW AWFUL IT IS:
Yes, it is only $200/month or $20/day, wonderfully cheap.
BUT: ~ It is a tiny space, only a curtain around a small cot.
~ It is at the top of our spiral staircase, next to the cats' area.
~ Even though we are quiet people, trying to tiptoe past you,
you'll need to wear earplugs or a headphone.
~ You'll need to have no sensitivity to cats: The Maui (Meowie) Cot Space is beside their food, water, cat beds, and kitty litter. Sometimes an old cat will leave a gift on the floor before our Live-In Custodian has woken up.
It is truly awful!
HOWEVER: ~ It is meant to be an "emergency" or "urgent" sleeping space, for those travellers with no other choice.
~ It's in a warm, sober-living house.
~ There's no TV in the Maui (Meowie) Cot Space, but our house has WiFi; and, the cot is beside a bookcase full of books.
~ It is only $20/day (or $200/ month).
~ This includes free coffee, tea, laundry soap, toilet tissue, hand soap;
free use of the kitchen equipment, laundry machines, fridge & food cupboards.
~ Make sure you have your own shampoo and towel. AND EARPLUGS.
PAST MAUI COT SPACE USERS: ~ A fisherman who stayed an entire month, apparently perfectly happy to do so.
~ A farm-worker who is still here (one year later)! It took some work to convince him to change into our Oahu Room instead, where he remains today.

We hit +45 C degrees in July, 2009 at the Southgate Mall near our house, though the official temperature at Chilliwack was +38.5 C degrees.
Also near our house, we rarely get below - 5 C degrees in the winter.
80,000 population. 40% farms. Booming (& cheap) housing market.
Almost completely surrounded by mountains, lakes, & rivers: great hiking & sky-diving.
5 thriving First Nations Reserves:
Homes of Judge Steven Point, our Lieutenant-Governor, BC's representative of Queen Elizabeth;
serious bingo halls; corn farms; a cheap gas station and lumber yard.
The new "largest Walmart Supercentre in Canada," A&W, and
a mega-cinema centre are renters on just one of them.
Countless faith buildings. Constant music festivals. Busy seniors communities.
3 golf parks, or maybe more. Cultus Lake has too many fun things to list.
Chilliwack and Abbotsford have the cheapest gas prices in the province.
Full of restaurants, shops selling local farm produce, thrift stores.
Northern California gardening climates: Zone 7 hillsides to Zone 8b & 9 pockets (our property),
resting on a large magma batholith under Mounts Hood, Shasta, St. Helens, Rainier, Baker in the south
through us to Mount Garibaldi and Mount Meager in the north.
Hawaii  Chilliwack

(b) You can go to Blaine, WA, but jaunt a little eastward to Lynden and the Pacific Highway #176 truck crossing into Cloverdale community of Surrey, BC, which then leads you to Vancouver.
~~> From the Cloverdale community of Surrey, it's about 70 minutes eastward on the #1 Freeway to Chilliwack.
(c) You can go to Sumas, WA, which is never as busy as Blaine, and it is the closest crossing to Song of Ruth Chilliwaii House Properties! You will cross into the Huntingdon community of Abbotsford, which takes you to the Abbotsford International Airport, or to the #1 Freeway eastward to Chilliwack.
Taking the #97 through Lake Chelan to Oroville, Washington: brings you to Osoyoos, BC, which is Canada's only "official" desert and the warmest lake in Canada -- although Canada has many hot semi-arid deserts in B.C., Alberta, and Manitoba, and a vast frozen desert in the arctic.
From Osoyoos, BC:
