Performers include: Mark Bourbeau, narrator A veteran of the USCG during the Vietnam era, Mark has performed regionally with various theater companies, appearing as Robert in Proof at Amazing Things Art Center in Framingham, as Father Donaghey in 11:11 Theater Company's Syllabus of Errors at the BCA, as Alsan in The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe at Riverside Theater Works in Hyde Park, Judge Hathorne in The Crucible at Roxbury Repertory Theater, Flan in Six Degrees of Separation and The Stage Manager in Our Town at Newton Country Players, Attorney Marston in Patience of Nantucket with Up You Mighty Race Performing Arts Company at the BCA, Father Dewis in Buried Child with Hovey Players in Waltham, both Geoffery and Dr. Fine in Six Degrees of Separation and Doolittle in Pygmalion with Longwood Players in Cambridge, Cornelius in Hamlet with Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, and as King Edward in Richard III and Nyutkin in Chekhov’s On The Dangers of Tobacco at Ghostlight Theatre Company in N.H. He is very happy to be performing with the terrific and talented company of Soldiers' Tales Untold under the excellent vision and direction of Shaw Pong Liu. Sophie Delphis, voice (Narrator) Born in Paris, Sophie Delphis grew up in the Bay Area, California. She became the youngest member of the century-old Palo Alto Fortnightly Music Club at fifteen, performing multiple recitals. In June 2006, she won the singing division of San Francisco's Beach Blanket Babylon Scholarship for the Arts. Since September 2006, she has attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, studying with Patricia Craig and Heidi Skok. As part of the undergraduate opera there, she has performed scenes as Augusta Tabor in The Ballad of Baby Doe, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Secrecy in The Fairy Queen, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel , and others. She has also performed the roles of Mother and Dragonfly in a full production of Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges. Outside of opera, she has put on sophomore, junior and senior recitals, as well as taken part in new works by composers at the conservatory. She has been part of Soldiers' Tales Untold since 2008. Tara Henry, Narrator Tara Henry is a California native who holds her B.A. in Theater Performance from CSU, Long Beach. Highlights of Tara's past roles include: “The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild” as Mildred Wild (Costa Mesa Playhouse), “The Lying Kind” as Gronya (Chance Theatre),“Cinderella The Musical” as Queen Masie (Fair Oaks Theater Festival), “Titus Andronicus" as Titus (CSULB), Christmas in the Land of Oz as the Scarecrow (Garbeaus Dinner Theater) “Harlequin Refine by Love” as Trivelin and “Weasel” as Andronico (Imaginary Beasts) well as Lyn in the SlamBoston's winning production of “Cantaloupe Girlfriend” (Company One). Tara has also been doing some voice over work, as well as film work. She appeared in the recently released “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” as well as the film “Drive-In Horror Show.” However, Tara’s most recent, exciting accomplishment was co-creating and performing in the show “21 Pieces of This & That” based on the work of Russian absurdist, Daniil Kharms. Shaw Pong Liu, creator, director and violin An innovator in the creation of genre-busting shows which interplay live music, narration, and storytelling, Shaw Pong's recent productions include “Jelly and Jelly Jam”, a hypothetical encounter of two historically-important musicians named “Jelly”: jazz composer “Jelly Roll” Morton, and the legendary Hungarian violinist Jelly d’Aranyi; “Stone Soup”, a musical re-telling of the classic fable with an international cast at the Banff Centre; and “From Folk to Funk”, a multicultural, multilingual exploration of folk-inspired music from five countries. Cross-genre collaborations in Boston include playing with MIT's innovative Gamelan Galak Tika and Ensemble Robot, and performing improvised and loop pedal music with spoken word production "ARTiculation" (www.articulationworld.com). In the classical music world, recent performances include Bang-on-a-Can All-Stars, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and performances with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, in the world premieres of several new works. A graduate of U.C. Berkeley with a Masters in Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, Shaw Pong is the recipient of the Eisner Prize, the Hertz Travelling Fellowship, and was 2008 Artist-in-Residence at the Blue Sky Project in McHenry County, IL. Visit her at: www.shawpong.com. Joe Moffett, narrator Joe Moffett is a musician and writer from the Boston area. In his regular musical life he is a trumpet player. He regularly performs his music in Boston, New York, and Philadelphia, but has also traveled as far as Oakland, CA and Barcelona, Spain to perform. His current projects include an avant-jazz quartet, Bird. Fly. Yellow., and a music-and-poetry duo ensemble, Gleason’s Twins. Rane Moore, clarinet Hailed by the Boston Phoenix as "phenomenal," clarinetist Rane Moore performs regularly at home and abroad. An enthusiastic interpreter of contemporary repertoire, she has given numerous premieres of new works and appeared with groups such as ICE (International Contemporary Ensemble), Firebird Ensemble, Harvard Group for New Music, Raduis Ensemble, Ludovico Ensemble, and is a member of the Callithumpian Consort and the Talea Ensemble. Her recent performance with Boston Musica Viva was called a "tour-de-force" by the Boston Globe. She has worked with a wide range of composers including Helmut Lachenmann, Alvin Lucier, Christian Wolff, Fredrick Rzewski, Lee Hyla, Steve Reich and Brian Ferneyhough. Ms. Moore has been featured as a guest artist at the Royal College of Music and Drama in Wales and has worked closely with Pierre Boulez at the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland. Other festival appearances include Festival Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo in Leon, Mexico, La Ciudad de las Ideas in Puebla, Mexico, and VI Festival Internacional de Música Clásica Contemporánea de Lima. As an orchestral musician she has performed with the Owensboro Symphony in Kentucky, the Columbus, Indiana Philharmonic, and the New England Philharmonic. She has recorded for Gravina Música and Mode records. Ms. Moore holds degrees from Indiana University, the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and the University of California at Berkeley. Randy Pingrey, trombone Randy Pingrey is a Boston based trombonist and composer. He is an active participant in many genres of music – he has performed and recorded in New York and Boston with jazz musicians like Frank Carlberg, Bill McHenry, Anthony Coleman, and Jerry Bergonzi, with indie rock bands like Bon Iver, Akron Family, and Land of Talk, and with classical musicians like Norman Bolter, John Faieta, and Doug Wright. He is a graduate of New England Conservatory, and is currently working on writing music which combines his love for improvised jazz music with his interest in the American experimental music tradition. Adam Sanders, Narrator Adam received his Bachelors in English from UMass, Amherst in 2004. During his stay in Amherst he directed for The UMass Theater Guild, Naked Theater, UMass Theater Department, The UMass Shakespeare Festival, Chester Miniature Theater and Mixed Company. He was also the Founding Artistic Director and Educational Coordinator for the Amherst Renaissance Company. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Theater Education with a concentration in Theater and Community at Emerson College. In Boston, Adam directed for Bad Habit Players and Emerson Center for Health and Wellness. He appeared for Bad Habit as "Leontes/Shepherd" in The Winter's Tale and as Malvoleo in their Twelfth Night. Adam also works with the educational theater group, Theater Espresso. Logan Thoreau, narrator Originally from south Florida, Logan Thoreau is a bright new talent on the Boston scene. He is currently studying with The Apollinaire Theatre Company and continues his work in theater, improvisation, and film. His latest credit, the short film 'Carlotta' from writer/director Ernesto Galan, premiered earlier this summer and is currently being featured in film festivals across the country. As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Thoreau provides a unique and soulful prospective to 'Soldiers Tales Untold'. Thoreau's preformance in 'Soldiers Tales Untold' is a shining example of his ambition to, thru his work, bring attention to issues and topics close to his heart; such as those discussed in 'Soldiers' Tales Untold'.
