The Basics
1. High background thaums make it easier to achieve high levels, though the casting difficulty will still be higher than normal.
2. To gain higher levels of enchantment, cast the spell repeatedly until the desired level is reached.
3. The heavier the item, the easier it will be to enchant to high levels.
4. Any enchantment over that of steady will leak thaums over time and degenerate to level five (steady).
This leakage is continuous, and occurs even when you are asleep (ie. not logged on).
Because the different levels outlined above are just indicators on a continuous scale and not discrete, how long a stage takes to degenerate to the next depends on how much enchantment is left in that stage.
A full stage of enchantment will take around 2 weeks to leak into the surroundings. (Sekiri's Home of Wizardry)
5. Magical Talismans (ie. completed deludes) will only degenerate to level six (intense).
Some Magical Talismans under a certain weight may still degenerate to steady.
5. Only witches and wizards can naturally see the enchantment on an object.
6. Priests of Gufnork and Sandelfon can use the ritual Detect Magic to see the enchant level of an object.
7. Mortals with some skill in magic.items.held.wands may use a 'short wand' to see the levels or get Detect Magic on a Faith Rod.\
The Effects
1. Enchanting something will make it more durable. ie. harder to damage.
2. The higher the enchant, the more durable.
3. Enchanted blorples do last longer than unenchanted ones.
4. Enchanted armour, in addition to being more durable, may also prove more effective in absorbing damage.
5. Enchanted weapons, in addition to being more durable, will become more powerful.
6. The higher the enchant, the more powerful the weapon.
7. Being more powerful these weapons will do more damage.
8. Being more powerful these weapons will be much harder to use.
9. Regarding special weapons such as Thieves Daggers, Holy Blade of Soyin, Wyrm Sword, Ornate Warhammer, etc.
These weapons will already have a certain level of enchantment when you purchase them.
Therefore a base enchant is pointless, please check the current enchant level before taking it higher.
The Levels
1. It occasionally pulses with octarine light.
2. It emits a slight octarine glow.
3. It softly pulses in dull octarine shades.
4. It gives off a steady, but dull, octarine glow.
5. It gives off a steady octarine glow.
6. It glows an intense octarine.
7. It emits a bright octarine colour.
8. It brightly pulses octarine.
9. It glows brilliant octarine shades.
10. It radiates pure octarine brilliance
Brother Happalon's Elementary Enchanting – BHEE
The spell "Brother Happalon's Elementary Enchanting" is a miscellaneous spell requiring a thaumic funnel; the casting uses the skills evoking, enchanting and chanting.
Skill requirments: 100 bonus is all skills should be sufficient.

1. This spell is capped low.
2. Thaumic funnels may be obtained by casting the spell Objandeller's Thaumic Funnel or purchased from some guild shops.
3. In regards to the cap, items weighing under 2 pounds are not inclined to be enchanted beyond level two.
4. Heavier items may be enchanted to level 3 in one or two casts.
5. Achieving level four with BHEE is almost unheard of.
6. A level four enchant will only happen by fluke or using high skills in an environment with very high background thaums.
7. An enchant using this spell alone is commonly referred to a basic or base enchant.
Master Glimer's Amazing Glowing Thing – MGAGT
The spell "Master Glimer's Amazing Glowing Thing" is a miscellaneous spell requiring a handful of purple mineral powder and a thaumic funnel; it requires the focus of an octogram; the casting uses the skills evoking, earth, chanting, binding and enchanting.
Skill Requirments: Evoking - 140, earth - 170, chanting - 160, binding - 220, enchanting - 260.

1. This spell is considerably more powerful than its cousin and can enchant an object to level 10.
2. This spell can not be cast on an unenchanted object. You will need to use BHEE on the item before you use MGAGT.
3. Thaumic funnels may be obtained by casting the spell Objandeller's Thaumic Funnel or purchased from some guild shops.
4. Obtaining purple mineral powder.
i) Searching the streams of Blue Moon Park in Bes Pelargic. You will need approximately 100 bonus in crafts.mining.ore.panning.
This will not work in winter.
ii) Purple mineral nuggets as sold in the Creel Springs House of Magic and the Ankh-Morpork Guild of Alchemists may be pulverised with a hammer to yield a supply of powder. The yield is highly variable, fetching between 12 and 38 pinches.
iii) Many playershops stock purple mineral powder at varying prices according to competition and demand.
Objandeller's Thaumic Funnel - OTF
The spell "Objandeller's Thaumic Funnel" is a miscellaneous spell; the casting uses the skills water, channeling, dancing and binding.
Skill requirements: 130 bonus in all skills should be sufficient.
Found in: Cunjuryng for Begynners
1. This spells creates thaumic funnels which may be used to enchant things.
2. The funnels sell in most general shops for 12.5 Ankh-Morpork pence.
3. The spell is good for gaining Taskmaster levels (TM's) as a student.
Mother Twinter's Yarrow Enchantment
The spell "Mother Twinter's Yarrow Enchantment" is a miscellaneous spell requiring a stalk of yarrow; the casting uses the skills evoking, enchanting and chanting.
Skill requirements: largely unknown at this time, however 150 bonus in all skills should be enough to start with.
Found: Granny Weatherwax will teach you if you ask nicely.
1. This is the witches enchanting spell.
2. Being a witch spell wizards can't cast it.
3. Yarrow can be gathered in the gardens of various witch cottages, including Granny's.
4. This spell is capable of getting an object to at least level six (intense), however enormous bonuses are required do so.
Since the loss of Ibblek and the ascension of Woom it is doubtful that any now remain with the skills.
Level 5 (steady) may be achieved with high skills and much casting and the lower levels are fairly easy to achieve.
5. Heavier items will be easier to enchant and high background thaums will ease the process.
The use of a magic circle is therefore recomended.
