War Hammers

Rowena MacClannachy
Equipment shop, Headquarters of the Lancre Highland Regiment, Lancre town.
Rowena, the smith of the regiment, is short and stocky with red-gold hair. She has shoulders like a horse and the strength to match.
As the resident smithy Rowena also runs the supply store, selling premade maces, halberds, swords and armour to anyone who needs it.

Rowena specialises in specially forged war hammers for those who desire quality rather than speed when purchasing a weapon of war.
By her own claim she makes the best war hammers west of Gebra, you can judge for yourself.

You can chose either a footman's or a horseman's hammer, the latter having a somewhat shorter handle so it is easier to swing from the saddle. With either selection you may also chose to have a heavy or light head for the hammer.

The hilt can be forged from steel, iron, black iron, bronze and silver.
I do not know whether this effects damage at all, but it does have a considerable impact on price.
In addition, iron heads may be polished, darkened, battered, browned, pitted, rough, blued and rusty.

The striking surface has to be flat, but you can still order it in several shapes: hexagonal, octagonal, square and round.
To balance the head you may have a curved spike, ornate knob, plain knob or a spike.

The shaft can be mountain ash, applewood, birch, ash and oak.

Rowena MacClannachy whispers to you: Yer war hammer will look loike this: Despite this hammer's hefty weoight, designed to crush shields and crumple armour, it almost soars in the hand. The silver striking face be perfectly flat, and the octagonal neck leads back to flat shield-shaped sides and a spoiked finial. At the back, a complex twisted knot of silver ribbons counterbalances the hammer head perfectly, and two long studded straps of silver protect the top of the birch haft when parrying a blow.
