SCYO Membership is open to all high school and college level students who wish to study symphonic repertoire and enhance their music experience. Musicians who play at high school or college level, but are not necessarily of that age group, are welcome in the orchestra. We have several younger and older players. Students who are in high school are required to be enrolled in their school music program, unless there is no school music program, or the music teacher signs a statement that a required subject interferes with such enrollment.
Instruments:
Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass Enrollment:
SCYO receives tremendous support from Solano Community College. Solano College provides some or all of the following resources for our orchestra: rehearsal facilities, instructor salaries, equipment (stands, chairs, instruments), sheet music, performance space, administrative support, printing services, etc. The majority of youth orchestras are not as fortunate - and require significant fees to maintain their programs. The current tuition rate for youth orchestras in Sacramento, Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco is $500 - $1250 a year.
ENROLL TODAY! First Time Student Enrollment Information Auditions:
Auditions are for seating only. We do not ask any student to leave through the audition process. Seating auditions are conducted during the third week of the semester in a warm and friendly setting with our SCYO staff specialists. Parents and teachers are welcome at any rehearsal or audition!
