What kinds of events does Special Olympics swim? Most of the events are 25 or 50 yard races, although there are a few 100's. The 4 strokes are Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly. For the Area Meet and the State Games, athletes compete in individual events and relays. For the Fall Classic, our lower skilled athletes compete in individual events and on relay teams. There will also be a unique training event to conclude the Fall Classic. We will only enter you in events you're comfortable swimming -- we want you to succeed! How old do you have to be to participate? Are there any other requirements? All participants must be at least 8 years old. Special Olympics is an organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Don't worry if you can't swim, we can teach you! How much does it cost? All Special Olympics Hamilton County programs are absolutely FREE! Is the water cold? The water is not that cold. But, the faster you swim, the warmer you'll be! How can I become involved in SOHC Aquatics? Register with Hamilton County at the beginning of the season, www.specialolympicshamiltoncounty.org. Or, contact Coach Steve at srcauthon@aol.com |
