Welcome to Software Freedom Day 2009, B.M.S. College Of Engineering. SFDs are held every year around the globe in association with SUN Microsystems to promote Free Software/Open Source Software among computer users, and students in particular. UPDATE: SFD this year was a grand success - we had loads of fun being together, discussing on things, sharing knowledge. It was very nice to have so many people interested. Thanks !! All the photos of the event can be accessed here. The blog is here. POST EVENT: Because this was just an introduction to FOSS, we skipped the actual details .Many people complained that we didn't show the steps for xyz feature. This was because first we wanted everyone to know about how FOSS works. We'll have sessions coming up regarding installation, usage, and hacking (hope you guys remember what it actually means - to study and modify the software in a constructive sense. Doing so in a destructive sense is called cracking). Till then, we want people to install, start using Ubuntu, OpenOffice and any Free Software for that matter. It might be that some of you face problems. For this, you can ask questions at the following groups, so do go and join them.
Also, please leave your feedback if any in the Feedback section. ![]() Fedora/Red Hat , linode , Canonical , DKUUG , The Free Software Foundation , Google And,
