It's our 10th anniversary
A major milestone in the club's history, our 10th anniversary, has almost passed us by unnoticed whilst we've been driving forward into 2012.
Sodbury Cycle-Sport was first registered in early 2002 with sponsorship from ME Nelson & Sons, a family butchers business in Chipping Sodbury, and Terry's Cycles, based in Yate, their generous support enabling the club to quickly establish itself over our first two years. The photo (left) shows a group of our members at the club's 2003 presentation.
Over the subsequent years a number of prominent local riders have achieved outstanding results in Sodbury colours, including Stuart Salmon and Paul Vincent in road races, Simon Baynes in both road and track events and Jason Bohin in time trials. We're now looking to our current crop of talented members such as Ian Dunn, Lee Aston and Jim Peters to keep the club's name in the news during the coming season. Apart from the racing activities, we've also been running club-ride programmes, and many of our membership also participate in cyclo-sportive events. Of our founder members, Terry Gradidge and Kevin Green are still active today.
Almost coincidentally, we're now moving forward strongly into our next decade with:
- this newly re-vamped web site
- a fundamental change to our kit design and supplier - watch this space for further news!
- the continuation of our very successful evening time trial series at Old Sodbury
