Soda is Killing You

If only that were an exaggeration.

The soda industry doesn't want you to think about it.
The government can't or won't do much about it.
You don't want to hear about it.

Here's the problem: soft drinks (soda, cola, pop, etc.) are bad for you.

"Are you worried about my sugar intake?" you might ask.  "Because I drink diet soda, no sugar at all."  And a lot of people do that, and they believe that enables them to drink more.  So they drink a whole lot more of all the other things in soda that are terrible for you, without the additional sugar.  Now they're drinking it at the expense of the water or milk that their bodies need.

"Is this another aspartame scare?" you might ask.  No, it's not—there are plenty of other unhealthful substances in soda without even bringing Nutrasweet, Splenda, saccharine, or whatever else into the mix.

A healthy adult who eats responsibly and exercises daily may, in fact, drink half a can (six ounces) of soda per day with no ill side effects or health issues.  That's a fact.  But you need to ask yourself honestly:

    1. How balanced is your diet?
    2. How often do you exercise?
    3. When's the last time you cut yourself off at half a can of soda?

Health Risks Associated
with Soda:

Bone Mass

Cancer
