Office of the Clerk

The Socorro County Clerk is Rebecca Vega, who was elected to a four year term in 2008. She has appointed Audrey Jaramillo-Hawkes as her Chief Deputy Clerk.

Department Resources

The Clerk is the custodian of records for Socorro County. This office keeps all official public records of the County, such as resolutions, ordinances, deeds, mortgages and marriage licenses for marriages within Socorro County.

The Clerk is also the chief adminstrator of elections. The Clerk's office receives nominations and petitions of candidates related to elections. In addition, the office supervises and prepares ballots and voting machines and trains poll workers.

The clerk's office also supports the Office of the Probate Judge in handling informal proceedings.

A. “Except as provided in this section, all documents filed and recorded in the office of the county clerk are public records, subject to disclosure pursuant to the Inspection of Public Records Act.”

NOTICE

ALL VOTERS OF SOCORRO COUNTY

CHANGE OF POLLING LOCATIONS

Precincts 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 & 7 have all been consolidated to Voting Convenience Center (VCC) at the Socorro County Annex Bldg., 198 Neel Ave. (the old BLM bldg. by Bhasker Medical Clinic).

Precincts 3, 8, 10, 17, 18 & 23 have all been consolidated to Voting Convenience Center (VCC) at the Socorro School Administration Board Room on 700 Franklin St.

Precinct 9 polling place has been changed from Sarracino Middle School to Lemitar, Midway Fire Department.

Precinct 15 has been changed from the Alamo Navajo Chapter House to the ANSB Wellness Center.

Precincts 12 and 26 have been changed to Mail Ballot Precincts, absentee voting in lieu of polling place (as per section 1-6-22.1 NMSA). These two precincts will be mailed notice and then mailed an Absentee ballot automatically.
