Why the programme

Marketing is changing rapidly in response to the widespread use of social media for both personal and business use.  The need today for every organisation to build open and transparent relationships with its customers, partners and investors is of paramount importance and civil society is no exception.  The 2010 report by Carnegie UK Trust “Civil Society and Social Media: Making the Connection” forecasts that should civil society organisations fail to become more flexible and adaptable; those which do not adapt to changing technologies risk becoming irrelevant.  Civil society associations must consider how developments in technology will affect relationships with their members/supporters and should prepare for a world in which technology is mainstream.
