Come hear from Brian Trelstad, Chief Investment Officer of the Acumen Fund, a non-profit global venture fund that uses entrepreneurial approaches to solve the problems of global poverty. Learn about Mr. Trelstad's experiences as a social entrepreneur, a consultant at McKinsey & Company, a staffer with President Clinton on the AmeriCorps Program, and co-founder of the Center for Environmental Citizenship at Stanford University.

An Inspiring Story from Malawi: "Water First"

Come here from a recent Penn graduate and PIBV Alumni on his work with Monitor Group consulting with the Saudi Arabian government on emerging market issues and career choices! The first part of the session will address the application of corporate strategies and the role of governments in the areas of economic development and social issues, and will be based on consulting work by Dan for the Saudi Arabian government. For the second part, Dan will share more about his own career choices and highlight differences between a governmental route and a Non-profit route in effecting social change.

Givology Case Competition: "What does it take to bring education to the poorest parts of the world?"

Have the potential to lead a pioneering internet nonprofit? Want to change the lives of students in the poorest parts of the world? Then take a crack at the first ever Givology case competition! Teams of 2-4 students interested in international development, education, and nonprofit management will examine current questions faced by the Givology team and make recommendations on partnership and fundraising strategy. The winning team will receive $500 in Givology gift certificates to be allocated to support the Givology student or project of their choice.
