It’s Not Just a Game: Virtual Worlds as a Tool to Increase Social Capital

This study is part of a research paper for a graduate degree at Queens College.  The survey portion of the study is now closed.  Once the paper is complete, this site will be updated with further information.

Update 5/19/09 - My paper was handed in a little while ago, but I'm still waiting on a grade.  I had been hoping for some feedback on it before pursuing publication, but since today is my last class, I thought it would be better to move forward.  I didn't realize how long the publication process takes, and am now regretting waiting so long.  I will post an update if my paper is approved somewhere, but that may not happen for a bit longer.

Update 2/1/09 - The first draft of my paper is finally complete.  I don't know when exactly I'll have something concrete to show visitors to this site, but it is one step closer.  I still plan to try to get the results published somewhere, so I won't be posting details here until I've explored my options.  But I don't expect it to take too much longer.  The hardest part is now done.

Update 1/7/09 - Data analysis took much longer than I had thought it would, and the holidays didn't help.  I hope to have my paper handed in before next semester starts and to have a summary suitable for distribution soon after. I will update this site at that time and I will send an email to anyone that has sent a message requesting a response.

Thank you for your interest.
