Social Buddies Norfolk

Joined the group but not receiving messages?

You should be getting a reasonable amount of emails from this group, such as
the monthly events list, reminders of each event and updates or communication
between members.

On joining, you should immediately have received the current monthly events
list, plus a welcome message.

IF YOU ARE NOT RECEIVING EMAILS FROM THE GROUP PLEASE CHECK:

1) Is your yahoo ID 'bouncing'?
On the Home Page for the group, look at 'Edit Membership' which you will find
somewhere towards the top of the page. There will be a message around there if
your ID is bouncing. This means that Yahoo has tried to deliver a message but
encountered a problem (which might only be a bit of congestion with your ISP)
and stopped sending you further mail until you confirm you are still an active
address.

Yahoo should have send you a Reactivation request, an email to which you need
to respond, or you can Reactivate your ID online.

2) Check which email address you have set up for your Yahoo ID.
To access a Yahoo group such as Social Buddies, you use a Yahoo ID, a kind of
specialised email address. You have the option of which actual email address
the Yahoo ID forwards messages to. Have a look at the screen shots in the documents attached to this page (below).

When you first set up your Yahoo ID, it offers you a default email address of
youryahooid @ yahoo.co.uk. Later on in the process you can choose whether to use this or add your own email
address instead. (If you miss this bit, simply go to 'Edit Membership' and amend it there).

IF YOU STAY WITH THE YAHOO DEFAULT EMAIL ADDRESS you have to make arrangements
to get the mail! Either set up your email program (ie Outlook Express) to
recognise the Yahoo email address (recommended) OR make sure you log on
regularly to the Yahoo email system to retrieve your mail.

Easier still is to change it to your own email address - in 'Edit Membership'
it will allow you to 'Add Email address'.

3) Frequency of mail
If you want all messages from the group to come to you, then choose Individual
Emails or Daily Digest in 'Edit Membership'.
If you only want the monthly events lists, and any important admin messages,
then choose 'Special Notices'.

Please do not choose 'Web Only' as this makes it very difficult to communicate important information to the group.

Best wishes
Jacky
