Projects:

[1] Frequency diversity and channel sounding in UTRA-LTE uplink

Supervisors: Basuki Endah PriyantoTroels B. Sørensen

Duration: 01/02/07-07/06/07

This Master thesis investigates various issues regarding frequency hopping and channel sounding in UTRA-LTE Uplink. The main attraction of UTRA-LTE uplink is the access technique used for it which is Single Carrier-FDMA because of low-PAPR. Different hopping schemes are evaluated and the results are obtained with the help of link level simulations. Channel sounding, being an important are of study in UTRA-LTE uplink, is also investigated emphasizing on CQI (Channel Quality Indicator) measurement error.

[2] Implementation of cooperative transmission techniques and evaluation using experimental data

Supervisors: Persefoni Kyritsi and Petar Popovski

Duration: 01/09/2006-31/12/2006

In this project we have implemented various cooperative transmission strategies in wireless communications and evaluate their performance with the experimental data available. We have proposed a new cooperative transmission strategy which will choose the route providing the best spectral efficiency (For more information see: http://kom.aau.dk/group/06gr990).

[3] Efficient multicast services for GPRS-like networks.

Supervisors: Hans-Peter Schwefel, Persefoni Kyritsi and Haibo Wang.

Duration: 01/02/2006-31/05/2006

This project basically involved various radio resource management (RRM) issues in Multicast service over GPRS like networks. It also had a sub-part in which we have studied and investigated PTP to PTM switching schemes for optimized power consumption in a GPRS like network and proposed new PTP to PTM switching scheme for power efficiency in a cell to support multicast service, and evaluated it in an existing or self-developed simulation tool. Simulation tool is MATLAB and we have used RUNE (Rudimentary Network Emulator) by modifying it and adding new features for our requirement.

[4] Wireless monitoring of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) in an Industrial process.

Supervisor: Persefoni Kyritsi  Duration: 01/09/2005-31/12/05

This project involved designing and simulation of low cost communication link to monitor the electric shovels working in the mining industry. Simulation is done using MATLAB.
