6/20/10 Steve Kennedy LP-15 Osceola, WI RWSA "shortened" Short Course Seven Whiskey, flight number 4.  Father's Day, 6/20/2010. Soaring forecast -0.0 at 3000 AGL, TRIGGER 3 PM, NO CU EXPECTED. First Off-Feld Landing.
6/19/10 Jim Hard Schweizer SGS 1-26A Faribault, MN A 78.99 mile OLC flight from FBL to Matson Private strip, Spring Valley, MN The day was very weak with low cloudbase and fair following wind but late takeoff at 2:30 CDT. After three hours of flying, landing was made at Matson strip, Spring Valley, MN with Crew Chief Paul Esser observing the landing. The strip was owned by Doc Matson of Spring Valley, recently deceased, who was the brother of former RWSA member Chuck Matson (rest in peace, Matsons). High point of the flight was 4351 MSL. OLC
6/9/10 Jim Hard Schweizer SGS 1-26A Faribault, MN 185.96 mile flight from FBL to near Highland WI Love that wind; 30 mph out of the WNW all day. But thermals were weak and a couple of low saves were required. Crew Chief Payne couldn't believe that I went beyond Decorah, IA cuz of the bad looking sky, but he believed me when I called him from the hay field. We got trailered and back home in the wee hours. OLC
6/3/10 Jim Hard Schweizer SGS 1-26A Stanton, MN (SYN) Thermal soaring flight from Stanton MN to 7 miles north of Chippewa Falls WI, 101.11 OLC Classic miles, 263.52 pts. A weak day with little wind and overcast moving in from the west. Flew east to stay out from under the overcast and flew off the edge of the earth into dead air about 3:30 pm  north of Chippewa Falls WI. Friendly farm family, the Sicards of Tilden WI, greeted the pilot in their hay field. Crew Chief Paul Esser stayed close during the flight and we got back home early. Also, we had to stay well clear of the Blue Angels practice area near the Eau Claire airport; they were getting ready for the weekend air show. OLC
 6/1/10 Craig Cowell   Bronze Badge
5/15/10 Jim Hard Schweizer SGS 1-26A Faribault, MN Thermal soaring round-robin flight from FBL to OEO.  5:54. 171.64 statute Another light wind day favoring a northerly course. Pilot and crew (JC Cunningham) started out west from FBL and then as the wind swung around during the day, went northwest around the Class B to Glencoe, north to Maple Plain, northeast to Cambridge, east to North Branch, and, finally, southeast to Osceola. Crew stayed in radio contact throughout the flight. OLC

Light winds of about 4-5 mph from NW to W all day. 8000 MSL maximum, with 800 fpm. Writeup - Crew Chief Paul Esser stepped up to the plate and hit his usual home run by staying with the pilot throughout his 6 hour flight, arriving at landing site 15 minutes after the landing. We were back in town by midnight. OLC

4/17/10 Jim Hard Schweizer SGS 1-26A Faribault, MN Thermal soaring flight from FBL to Pella IA, 210 miles. This was just another vulgar downwind dash on a blue-sky day with a moderate following wind. Flight duration was 6:07 and Crew Chief Paul Esser stayed in radio contact all the way and watched the landing at Pella. High point close to 7000 MSL and one save at 1200 AGL was required.    OLC
