Message from the President The winter of 2011/2012 really wasn't a winter at all. There were one or two storms that offered limited riding for a day or two. There was never enough snow to groom any trails and the lake ice was always questionable. The lake never froze in a manner that would support plow vehicles so we once again had to cancel our races in February. This is the third year in a row we had to cancel our winter races. We have decided to run Grass Drags in early October instead. If conditions permit, we may also run races in the winter, but that would be a bonus rather than a planned annual event. See the Snowmobile Races page for details. We cleared a lot of trails and built or re-built several bridges this fall in preparation for what we hoped would be a good riding season. The club spent over $3200 on materials and excavator work preparing the trails. If you ride a snowmobile, join the club. We need your support, both financial and physical. Please do your part to help keep this wonderful trail system in operation. Dues are $20 for a family membership and include both spouses and all children under the age of 18. Also included is membership in the Maine Snowmobile Association. Many insurance companies give discounts to MSA members, and that in itself will more than pay for the membership fee. If you are a snowmobiler, the SnoPackers really need your help. Please join the club by filling out a membership form (click on Club Membership in the left column) and sending it along with your check payable to the Jefferson SnoPackers, PO Box 355, Jefferson, ME 04348.Scott Barbour, President Site Last Updated on March 7, 2012 |
