Due Date for the Project: Friday, September 4, 2009
Please return the project and the book on this date
During the summer you will be reading Eggs by Jerry Spinelli. Before reading the book, read over the project requirements and use them to guide your reading. It would even be a good idea to write notes as you read and use these notes as you complete your project. This finished project will be a major grade for marking period one.
Directions: All work should be typed or written neatly in blue or black ink. No work completed in pencil will be accepted. There are four parts for this project:
Your collage has to be done on white paper or construction paper measuring 8 ½ by 11. a) Use pictures and words that tell about or represent the novel. b) Include pictures of important events, items, places, and characters. c) Glue words that relate to the novel and its meaning. d) On the top of your collage, put the title and the author’s name. Your name should be on the front or the back of the collage.
Be creative!
Pretend that you are one of the main characters, either David or Primrose, a) Write 8 important events that happen in the whole story. b) Write these events as if you are David or Primrose. c) Place the events in time order. d) Draw or insert a small picture or symbol for each event. e) Example: 1. I am not happy having to live with my grandmother because I miss my old town, my old house, and I really miss my mother. (This is written from David’s point-of-view.)
a) Write one paragraph about an important event in the novel and explain why it is important to you. b) Write one paragraph about an important character and explain what makes this character so important.
Choose ONLY ONE of the writing assignments from below. Your writing should be one typed page, double spaced. If you do not have a computer, hand write neatly in blue or black ink. (No pencil!) a) Explain why you would like to have either David or Primrose as a friend. OR b) Write a poem about the book. OR c) Describe an experience you had that was like an experience of a character in the book. OR d) Compare this story with a movie or television show. Please return this form to your Language Arts teacher along with your project. |
