Once a quarter throughout the academic year, students come together on a Friday evening for Twilight Retreat.
These three retreats, each guided by a different student leadership team, focus on a variety of issues we face as people of faith, from prayer and meditation, to relationships and forgiveness. These short sessions allow us to come together as a community and recharge our spiritual batteries. Each retreat is different from the last, and new themes are chosen each year.
The Social Justice Twilight Retreat gives us time to reflect on ways to connect our love and faith in God with how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. Do we use the gifts that God has given wisely? Do we have a proper understanding and relationship with the material possessions we own? Have we prayed and struggled on what it really means to forgive? What does it mean to be people of justice? How can I become a peacemaker?
These thoughts and more are some of the themes we cover in our Twilight Retreats.
NEXT TWILIGHT RETREAT:
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH, 7-10pm, Second floor of Catholic Center
SUBJECT: CONSUMERISM AND CATHOLIC VALUES
In our world, we are offered so many messages that we exist through our purchasing power and that the items we purchase will bring us happiness and contentment.
How do these messages affect our ability to hear God's word in our lives?
Join us as we pray, read scripture, and discuss our own experiences of faith in connection with our consumer society. |
