Our Spring Retreat focuses on our call to hear the word of God as it applies to Social Justice.
Students gather together for a weekend of prayer, reflection, and discussion on God's justice for the human family. We explore Catholic Social Teaching and its implication for our lives in the context of our faith experience.
Join us as we delve into the teachings of the Church and the Bible and challenge ourselves to hear the cries of the poor and marginalized and work to bring about justice! |
LAZARUS RETREAT 2009
"There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores."
Luke 16:19-21
This spring, our retreat asked us to reflect upon how we have acted, and continue to act, like the rich man in Luke's parable. Where have we seen Jesus in the poor and marginalized and have refused to help.
We are called by Christ to love all people, especially the poor. We met for a weekend of prayer and reflection to see how we can better serve the needs of our most vulnerable members of our society. Through scripture and Church teaching, we discerned our response to God's call. Through direct service, we acted in ways of solidarity. Through prayer, we asked for forgiveness and strength to follow the Gospel always. |
