Job Description:
· Assist office in implementing a public education campaign and poverty education in selected parishes of the diocese · Work with CCHD funded social service groups and parishes to further the work of the campaign
Majors Encouraged to Apply: Bachelor's or Master's. Relevant areas of study include communication, public service, education, liberal arts, political science, and theology.
Requirements, Qualifications, and Skills: The applicant must be Catholic, between the ages of 18 and 30, have leadership experience, community service experience, and effective writing/communication skills. Website/computer skills and public relations skills required.
An openness to the CCHD values of solidarity building, participation of the poor, and Catholic social teaching is essential. Young, low-income Catholics from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.
Orientation: The intern will be required to attend a national orientation at the national CCHD office at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops headquarters in Washington, DC, June 3-5, 2009. All travel, lodging and meal expenses will be paid by the national office.
Stipend: $10/hour
Time Commitment: 13-15 hours/week from September 2009 to May 2010 (12 weeks in the fall and 12 weeks in the spring). The exact days and hours are flexible and can be arranged around the intern’s schedule.
