Director of Rugby

CLUB ANNOUNCMENT

This season has been a difficult one, and a few months ago the club put together a new playing committee to address the major issues regarding the senior playing section.  Over the past few months the playing committee have had to reorganise the coaching set up and in conjunction with the clubs 5 year plan make suitable plans the forthcoming seasons.

Therefore, St Marys Old Boys RFC is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Healy at Director of Rugby.  Dave has a wealth of experience having been Director of Rugby at Clifton RFC and Weston-Super-Mare RFC, where he was able to develop successful teams in South West 1 and National 3.

Dave will be responsible for the coaching of the senior section as well as over seeing the development of the colts, juniors and mini’s.  Under Dave and his team the clubs ambition is to finish next season in the top 2 of Western Counties North and to make an immediate return to South West 1.

Dave joins the club alongside new player coach Mark Armstrong, Mark has had great success as a player and spent a number of seasons at Bristol RFC.  Mark’s playing experience will be a great asset to the club and development of the younger players.

Following good work since the turn of the year the clubs current coach Mark Gabey has been asked to stay and work as part of the new coaching team.

This season has been a tough one for the player, but the sprit within the team is good, the current colts squad have started to merge well into the senior teams, and the outlook for the season ahead is good, recent results and performance have improved greatly.

I am sure that you will all join me in welcoming Dave and Mark to our club and wishing our new coaching team well for the season ahead.
