স্কুলে থাকতে সতেজ ভাই ছিল সেরকম একটা ছেলে যে প্রতিবছর প্রায় নিয়ম করে হাত পা ভাঙতো খেলতে গিয়ে। এবং যাকে কখনোই টিচাররা মার্ক দিতো না, এবং সবসময় যার রোল ৬-৭ এর পরে থাকতো। কিন্তু মেট্রিকে টিচারদের প্রথম দ্বিতীয় কিছুই করতে পারলো না, এবং হাতপা ভাঙা ছেলেটা স্ট্যান্ড করল! তারপর সতেজ ভাই চাঁদপুর থেকে ঢাকা আসলো, হাত পা ভাঙা বন্ধ করলো, ঢাকাকলেজে পড়ল, এবং তারপর ঢুকলো বুয়েটে। বুয়েটে ঢুকে সতেজ ভাই জীবণে প্রথমবারের মতো দেখল, প্রোগ্রামিং বলে একটা জিনিস আছে, এবং সেই জিনিসটা করা যায়! কিন্তু প্রথম বর্ষে সে প্রচুর নাকানি চুবানি খেল কোডিং নিয়ে, কিচ্ছু পারতো না, তারপর খুব মন খারাপ করে নাসা ভাইয়ের কোড পড়তে যেতো, আর থতমত টাইপের ভয় পেয়ে যেতো, কারণ সেই কোড শুধু কাজই করে না, লাল নীল অনেক রঙ দিয়ে আউটপুট দেখায়।

সতেজ ভাই শেষ পর্যন্ত এক এপ্রিলে ওয়ার্ল্ড ফাইনালস এ গেলো, এবং সেই বছর MITর পজিশন ছিল তাদের টিমের পেছনে! এবং সতেজ ভাই হচ্ছে টপকোডারে বাংলাদেশের প্রথম এবং এখন পর্যন্ত একমাত্র রেড। (রেড অনেকটা গ্র্যান্ডমাস্টার টাইপের একটা জিনিস)

but you cannot win the race and IMO is a race.

The important skill required to win is believing. If you believe you will win you will surely win. Otherwise you are giving up before starting of the battle. If any of you are in the second category I will advise you to give up this journey and spend your time with Bangladeshi Education. Not always fastest people wins the race. Remember about this story. You are not taught these stories in the elementary school to get good marks rather than to apply these in your life. Not always the stronger and resourceful people wins. Remember some religious texts that in Islam Muhammad defeated Meccan army of 1000 warriors with his 313 fellows. Or in Mahabharat Pandavas won with their 7 division of army against the 11 division army of Kauravas.

Absolutely correct...If i learn all these techniques after 3 years it won't be beneficial to me rather I have to learn all these within 2 years (obviously for doing well) and I can't do it just myself.

2 years is actually a huge time. you can improve your skill enormously. And again no time period is small.If you are thinking these learning will only help you for MO then this is very negative thinking. Learning problem solving skill is an asset for your lifetime. Also you should not only concentrate on Olympiad type problems or the type of problems that appears in MO. You should spend your time parallely with the other type of problems like calculus,graph theory etc. If you spend your time with other branches of mathematics I believe your olympiad problem solving skill will improve parallely. Remember many cricket players from strong teams play football,basketball for their fitness.

And lastly for recent years I have seen that our participants blame our system telling about lack of training and education system. We will not improve ever if we have these type of mentality always. We should think that not all medal winners are from country having good education system and good training camps. We should think that there are lots of medal winners are from the country having the system like us or worse than us. We should think if the second category medal winners can do well why we should not.

Training is the responsibility for the organizers. But the participants should not wait for that. They should start the battle with everything they have.
