Who We Are

The Green Team at St. Martin of Tours was founded in November, 2009, following the parish's support of the St. Francis Pledge on climate change.  A small corner of our parish bulletin asked for "green" suggestions and a handful of people made submissions.  We gathered together to form the Green Team and held our first meeting in March, 2010.

We provide weekly bulletin articles to educate our parish family, organize monthly activities so that we may act together to create positive environmental change, and encourage more sustainable practices at our parish, school and homes.  We believe that environmental justice is a critical component of social justice and an important part of our Catholic faith.

We would love to have your help!  Please consider joining the Green Team.

September 2010

  • International Coastal Clean Up Day
Saturday, September 25th, 9:00am to noon
Capitola State Beach

Marine debris is a major threat to the health of our oceans, especially plastics which never fully biodegrade.

Join us as we participate in the International Coastal Clean Up Day.  We will pick up litter from the beach and track important data that the Nature Conservance will use to advocate for better policies to protect our coastal communities.

All cleaning suplies will be provided.  Please bring a trash-less lunch, or enjoy one of the fun nearby restaurants.  No plastic or glass beverage bottles, please.
