WEDNESDAY 10TH 5:30PM
SMCRFC VS CHAD'S
Maiden Castle Rubber Crumb Pitch
This is the biggest match of the year for SMCRFC.
After our 52-15 win over Trev's to finish off last term, we are coming
into a bit of form and now face Chad's, the team that got demoted with
us last year. If you're going to come to a rugby match this year, make
it this one.
Two evenly matched teams battling it out on a perfect surface, it's all
about who wants it more. There promises to be fireworks and some good
running rugby.
YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN ALCOHOL AS LONG AS IT'S NOT IN GLASS BOTTLES
JORDAN HARKER MEMORIAL FOOTBALL MATCH
WEDNESDAY 10TH 7:30PM
M.C RUBBER CRUMB
As many of you will know, Jordan Harker, a second year History student
in Castle College, tragically died shortly before Christmas. Jordan was
a keen footballer, playing for the University and Castle teams as well
as Linthorpe FC, his local team at home. The 3 clubs are coming
together this Wednesday (the 10th) to play a one-off exhibition match
in his memory. The game is being played on the rubber crumb pitch at
Maiden Castle, kicking off at 7:30pm. Donations will be requested on
the gate with all the money raised going to the Great North Air
Ambulance, the charity Jordan ran the Great North Run for. It would be
great to see as many people as possible at the game to make the
occassion as special as it deserves to be.
HILL/BAILEY HOCKEY MATCH FOR DUCK
WEDNESDAY 10TH 6PM-8PM
WATER BASED ASTRO
The Hill and Bailey Colleges pit their wits against each other once again in this annual CLASH OF THE TITANS.
Will the Bailey continue their winning streak from last year? Or will
the resurgent Hill colleges capitalise on a successful season so far?
Get behind your guys and girls, they need YOUR SUPPORT to bring glory back to the HILL/BAILEY!!
Hot food van on site
All in aid of DUCK
In addition to this Mary's dance troupe will perfom for the crowd and Pattie will finally show us all her sexy dance moves... |

The annual St Mary's College Sportsman's Ball has taken place for a few
years now. It is a celebration of college sport, and entertainment is
run by the sports teams, but everyone is Mary's is invited to attend.
Last
year it was very successfully run by Anna Chamberlain-Webber, Michael
Gaunt and Stephen Platts and started in Boathouse before moving to
Loft. This year Alice Fitton and Ross Clark wanted to build on the
success of the previous year and bring the event into Mary's. The
evening ran smoothly and started with a drinks reception in the
Kenworthy Hall, followed by team competitions, a snack buffet, and the
team talent show before everyone moved to Studio for the end of the
evening.
A judges panel made up of Phil Gilmartin, Emily Hughes
and Craig Williams decided after much deliberation that the hockey club
were the winners of the talent show competition, making them reigning
champions. Better luck next year, rugby!
Thanks to everyone involved this year, particularly Emily
Warburton-Brown, Emily Hughes, James Liddell, James Giles, Joe McWilliams, Sarah May
and Jinden Badesha.

Team
Durham is offering opportunities to volunteer in the local community as
part of the Team Durham Community Outreach program, these opportunities
vary from coaching in schools to playing sport with the homeless or
volunteering with people in drug rehabilitation, and vary in sporting
roles from a kick around with a football, to white water rafting or
belly dancing.
Each program the team puts on requires student
volunteers to maintain it, we are looking for more volunteers to help
expand Team Durham's work in the local community and pick up on
something that the director of sport, Peter Warburton, says is 'crucial
to our role as a university'.
How can you help?
-Encourage others to get involved as well
-Volunteer for 2hours a week
What is in it for you?
-Sporting experience, good on your CV and for growth in character
-Potential for Coaching qualifications
-Support from the community team for job applications, CV writing, interview technique
-Meet people in the real world, outside of college life
-Put something back into the community
-Enjoy Sport in a non-competitive atmosphere
-Regular prizes for volunteers
If you would like more information please
email the team asking about volunteering this next term or visit the
Community webpage on the team durham website.
Thanks,
Team Durham Community Outreach Team

Interested in having a go at cheerleading or helping to set up a college cheerleading club? Read below:
I write on behalf of the Durham Divas to offer your
college the opportunity to put together a cheerleading squad, or to
improve the one you already have, with the help of a dedicated stunt
group from the university cheerleading team.
This academic year we will be organising two college
cheerleading competitions, and we would love for all the colleges to be
represented. We will be running stunt/jump/dance workshops with college
teams as required in order to prepare you for the competitions.
The first college cheerleading competition will be in
early March (date tbc), and the second on Friday 7th May 2010 - plenty
of time for your team to be practicing and perfecting their routine!
If there is interest within your college in setting
up a cheerleading squad and/or entering the competitions, please do not
hesitate to contact me. For more information about the Durham Divas,
please visit our website at www.freewebs.com/durhamdivas.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Many thanks,
Sarah Clayton
