The preparatory workshop for the FAO Small-scale fisheries conference "Securing Sustainable Small-scale fisheries: Bringing together responsible fisheries and social development", organized from 11-13 October 2008, Bangkok, is organized by the following :

World Forum of Fisher Peoples (WFFP)

WFFP is a federation of Mass Based Organization mainly working in Asia and Africa .We are mainly Beach Based fisher people.We use traditional fishing crafts.We have come together since 1997. We have come together to fight for our rights, to protect the fish resources and to protect the coast.

Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF)

The Sustainable Development Foundation was established in 2000 to support the 'Danish Cooperation for Environment and Development (DANCED) Partnership Programme Towards Sustainable Management of Natural Resources'. The programme focused on the promotion of natural resource management by community organizations. SDF works to strengthen NGO and PO networks by emphasizing the development of holistic and integrated visions of sustainability. These visions are derived from local wisdom and involve building partnerships to cooperate in solving community problems which will lead to sustainable development.

Southern Fisherfolk Federation


The federation was established to assist fishers in the 13 southern provinces in Thailand, with regards to all aspects of fishing including policy development.

International NGO/CSO Planning Committee (IPC)

IPC is a global network of NGOs/CSOs concerned with food sovereignty issues and programs. It includes social organizations representing small farmers, fisher folk, indigenous peoples, agricultural workers' trade unions; sub-regional/regional NGOs/CSOs which act as regional focal points; and NGO networks with particular expertise and a long history of lobbying and action and advocacy on issues related to food sovereignty and agriculture, which act as thematic focal points.
