Small-scale Fisheries at COFI 2 to 6 March 2009 (In French) (In Spanish) The Twenty Eighth Session of FAO's Committee on Fisheries (COFI), will be held from 2 to 6 March 2009 in Rome, Italy. It is to discuss the outcome of the Global Conference on Small-Scale Fisheries (4SSF), which was jointly organized by the FAO and the Royal Government of Thailand from 13-17 October 2008 in Bangkok, Thailand. At COFI, the FAO Member States will be invited to offer guidance on the actions that should be taken up at national and international levels towards securing sustainable small-scale fisheries. The Statement from the Civil Society Workshop (the Bangkok Statement on Small-scale Fisheries), the principal output of a three-day deliberation held prior to the 4SSF Conference by civil society organizations in Bangkok, contains the key demands on securing small-scale fisheries.
