The revolutionary play The Vagina Monologues is a celebration of female sexuality in all its complexity and mystery--giving us real women's stories of intimacy, vulnerability, and sexual self-discovery. The Vagina Monologues has been performed in cities all across America, at hundreds of
college campuses, and around the world, and has inspired a dynamic grassroots
movement--V-Day--to stop violence against women, raising over
$60 million since 1998. THIS YEAR, for the first time ever, Una will be producing The SLU Monologues, a dramatic compilation of true stories voices from within the SLU community including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Drawing from The Vagina Monologues for stylistic inspiration, The SLU Monologues go further, calling not only for the end of violence against women, but for an end to violence and oppression against all people. We put out a call to the SLU community for responses and the monologues you will see performed are what we received in response. Some of these stories are heartbreaking, others uplifting, others humorous, and others make us look at things in ways we never thought to before. Most importantly, all of them are real, and by speaking out each voice dismantles a piece of the oppression that weighs on us all. | Event Details Ticket Information Proceeds/Charities Learn more about V-Day Learn more about Una Contact una@slu.edu with any questions or concerns |
