Back when Saint Louis University's campus was centered in run-down, high-crime neighborhoods, SLU Karate was formed in 1991 with the goal of teaching self-defense to college students. Today, it is still the only martial arts school on campus and boasts class sizes of 20-30 members. Getting Involved No experience is required to join! SLU Karate offers a unique opportunity for college students to develop themselves through the Korean martial art Tang Soo Do. Classes are run in like a traditional martial arts school. The club is a part of the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation. At the end of each semester, you will have the opportunity to grade up to the next belt level. If you have prior experience in other styles of martial arts, you are welcome to join and train with the club.
