Round Robin Procedures

1. Active or Inactive?

The following procedure will determine whether a round robin participant is deemed “active” or “inactive”.

Attendance of active players will be tracked.  A participant will become “inactive” if he/she:

·         Attended four (4) consecutive regular (not “scramble”) Tuesday sessions but did not participate in round robin competition.

·         Or, was absent six (6) consecutive Tuesday sessions (including “scramble” nights).

Upon becoming inactive, the player’s rating is permanently lowered by 50 points and his/her name will no longer appear on the ratings list, but will remain in the round robin database.

To return to an active status and reappear on the ratings list, the player simply enters a round robin event that isn’t a “scramble”.  The player's adjusted lower rating is applied upon his/her return.

Active players who have missed some sessions will have attendance symbols next to their names.

·         # = attended a Tuesday session (not "scramble") but did not participate

·         @ = missed a Tuesday session (“scramble” nights included)

 Exceptions

Off course there will be exceptions where a player becomes inactive and not appear on the ratings list but is not deducted 50 points.

For example: Jeff Linder and Steve Thrasher live outside our area and compete whenever in town.  Let me know if you will be away over an extended period.

Another exception would be for medical reasons such as having undergone a lobotomy or sex change.

2. Leaving Before You Have Played All Matches

Any round robin participant who leaves before completing all of his/her matches will be scored as follows:

·         Any match that is lost is scored “as played”.

·         Any match that is won is voided (no score applied).

·         Any match not played or finished is forfeited and the opponent is awarded the win as 3 - 0.

Again, there are exceptions such as emergencies and injuries.  Let me know when you arrive if you have to leave early, arrangements will be made to have all your matches played first.  If you know from the beginning that you won’t be able to complete all of your matches, don’t enter the competition, otherwise risk a forfeit loss.

3. Etiquette

·         Players wanting to participate should sign the round robin entry sheet when entering the building.

·         Try to arrive at least 15 minutes before matches begin to get some warm-up.

·         When players arrive at the table to start a match, warm-up is limited to 2 minutes maximum.  If for some reason one of the players playing their first match, but had no previous warm-up, the warm-up session may be 5 minutes.

·         The player winning the match has the responsibility of entering the score and informing the two players scheduled to play the next match.
