Written by Cory Bloor, Technical Lead
The Project:
The goal of RetroVirus Redux was to work as a team to apply software development practices we were learning in CISC323 (Introduction to Software Engineering). It was completed with a team of 12 individuals over 6 weeks. We split the team into three groups: five members on the creative team, four members on the technical team and three members for documentation and management. It was decided that a vertically scrolling shooter would be a good project for a first-time team, being complex enough to split amongst team members, but simple enough it could be completed before the project deadline.
On this project I was the technical lead. My responsibilities included architecting the program, assigning jobs to programmers and reporting back to the project manager. Additionally, I wrote a program skeleton upon which the other programmers built the game.
