Materials Brief

      For NAM 2009

There is a fresh start in all areas of events this year, and Materials is no exception. The main emphasis of Materials in this tour is supporting WOPG and the wopg.org website and providing other relevant information such as Keys and local contact. TPRF, which is sponsoring the NAm series of events, has also been invited to have a Materials presence at the events. As with all areas in NAM 2009 events, the Materials area observes the principles of local team empowerment, so this information is intended for use as a guideline and a standard for the decisions of the local team.

The key objectives of the Materials area are:

  • Reinforce the message of the event
  • Associate the WOPG "brand identity" with the event and its message
  • Enhance awareness of the humanitarian aid initiatives of TPRF
  • Provide something people can take home from the event
The guideline is to achieve these objectives in a way that is simple, elegant, and non-intrusive. All NAM 2009 materials at the Materials Table will be distributed free of charge.  There will also be a Sales table and NAm regional coordination for the logistics of this operation. Watch for updates shortly.

Materials Table

A single table, bordered on each side by banners bearing the WOPG logo, is the basic model.  Here is a photograph of the WOPG Materials table from the recent Santa Cruz event.

The two standing banners next to the table will be provided. In this photo, the "want to see this again" banner attachment mentioned below is on the wall behind the table. In future events, this may be simply attached to the banners you will receive.

The materials table has three components, shown here from left to right:

  1. TPRF Material (taking more than half of the table in this example)
    - new TPRF Brochure
    - new Food for People Brochure
    - TPRF Envelopes
    - 4-Start Charity Navigator press release
    - TPRF Sign
  2. WOPG Material, the new WOPG Business Card
  3. Local Information Card and Keys card (see below)
Here is a closeup view of the table, in two photos showing left side and right side:

WOPG will bring the pop-up banners and the WOPG cards to each event. TPRF will ship the brochures and envelopes. TPRF will also supply a PDF for the press release and the TPRF sign to be printed in color by each local team. Contact David Schultz  dcs01@attglobal.net  805-905-1241 for the TPRF materials.  Each local team is responsible for providing the local information card as per the guidelines below. Business card holders and brochure display stands are also needed. A “Free Materials” sign helps to identify this table and distinguish it from the Sales table

Here is a close view of the new WOPG business card:

These beautiful cards underline the role of wopg.org as a central vehicle in the communication of Maharaji's message. They provide both a way to remind attendees of the site, and a simple way for them to share the awareness of wopg.org with other people. In this example, two plastic business card holders display the card upright, and then cards to be taken are fanned forward on the table.

Local Information

A local information card is optional. This could include a local website and phone number, information about local events and/or a local Words of Peace TV schedule. Information about The Keys business card is outlined below. Here are the guidelines for the local information card:

  1. One of the goals of materials at these events is to brand wopg.org as the place to go for information.  The local information card can supplement this by providing specific local information and address attendees that may not have internet access or are just not comfortable using a computer.
  2. It is not necessary to include wopg.org. There is already a WOPG business card.  If wopg.org is used (such as on a bookmark for public distribution), it should be specifically approved.  The WOPG.org logo is property of WOPG and is not to be used on the local information card.
  3. If a title is used, it should be clear that this is local information.  For example: " Asheville  Words of Peace  TV Schedule" or "Local Event Information for Cleveland " or just simply, “Local Information”
  4. This information should fit on a business card or a double folded business card. Whatever the local team decides, it should be no larger than a standard postcard size.
  5. Please send your local information card to Marc Halberg of the Core Materials Team as soon as possible for approval from WOPG. It will be reviewed for consistency with these guidelines.  Marc Halberg    magicmarco24@gmail.com   619-454-3754.
  6. Keys business card PDF files are available for printing in English on one side and another language on the other.  Languages available are Spanish, Hindi and French. These PDFs are set-up 10-per-page for printing on regular business card stock at Kinkos or other printers. Make sure you have the files with “2009” in the filename.

Remember to keep it simple, elegant, and relevant to the message.

    Presentation

These recommendations should be adapted to the local situation and local space.

    • One table, light grey or neutral table cloth, positioned between the two WOPG banners
    • Minimal materials on the table as described above, elegantly arranged with extra stock available below the table or nearby
    • One person near the table, not sitting right at the table, mainly to replenish the stock, available for questions if necessary, but not obviously so. Personal interaction is not the primary intention.
    • Choose a location that is not intrusive in the lobby space and flow, but is clearly in the focus of attendees arriving and departing

    Local Invitations

Event invitations are being created by WOPG. The invitations you receive via email from WOPG can be forwarded to any local lists and printed for local distribution. This sample from Ashland will be similar to what you will receive.  It is included here for your reference, not for you to edit and use.

Anyone can sign up to receive event notices via email from WOPG.. Look for the Mailing lists information in the right column on the Events page at www.wopg.org. You can choose which country, as well as what type of information you wish to receive.  This mailing list is for anyone who wishes to stay in touch.
