Dear friends of SkooB,

A portmanteau of the English words "costume" and "play", Cosplay is a Japanese subculture centered on dressing as characters from manga, anime, video games, Japanese live action television shows, Japanese movies, or Japanese pop music bands. However, in some circles, "cosplay" has been expanded to mean simply wearing a costume.

You do not have to come dressed up in a costume to enjoy the fun.
There will be hourly performances, sale of artwork and handpainted T-shirts, sale of a variety of snacks and GAMES!
So come on down this Sat or Sun between 12pm-4pm.
2 of Suzhou's better known Cosplay groups will also grace the events.

During the event, all food & beverages will be at 10% discount and every 100RMB spent at SkooB will be entitled to a box of Meiji Chocolate or a 10RMB voucher!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Beijing-based thriller "The Pool of Unease" is the third book in a series of crime novels featuring British heroine Robin Ballantyne.

Robin Ballantyne is investigating the murder of a British man in Beijing. His headless body was found in woods by an icy, fetid lake – is his death linked to a recent series of brutal attacks on women? In a city thick with paranoia and corruption, Robin struggles to separate rumour from reality.
Meanwhile, late one freezing night, Chinese private detective Song rescues a young boy from a fire on a building site. With witnesses appearing from the murky surrounds, bloody clothes on the ground but no body, and flames blazing around him, Song panics and flees – still clutching the boy.

From the smog of the capital to the poverty-stricken countryside, and from the mansions of millionaires to a disused quarry where the children of scavengers root among the rubbish, Song and Robin must unravel the truth behind the murders before they find themselves silenced – and before the killer can make another sinister move . .

Shattering traditional preconceptions, The Pool of Unease is a gritty, fast-paced thriller that exposes the shadowy underbelly of modern China.

Laughter is a universal language, which has the potential to unite humanity without religion.

To promote this wonderful movement and to encourage more laughter in our community, this Sunday, Skoob will reward anybody who laughs in our store for 30 seconds with a 10RMB voucher. ( We will provide some jokes if you need them....and don't worry, we'll laugh with you!)
