Md. Shafiuzzaman Khan Khadem
M.Sc in Applied Physics & Electronics
University of Dhaka, Bangladesh

This is Shafiuzzaman and at present (from Jan'09) doing research with the Electrical Power Research Group at Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Ireland on Power Quality improvement in Distributed Generation integrated network using UPQC. Design, real time control and placement of UPQC in DG with grid or microgrid for PQ improvement is the main task of the study. I am also involved as a Consultant / Expert in solar and wind energy projects in Bangladesh.

Before that I worked as a Lecturer for 2 years in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Dept, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). In parallel, I also worked for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) - Bangladesh for their wind energy project. I started my professional work at  the Renewable Energy Research Centre, University of Dhaka, as a Research Associate where I did research for more than 6 years on solar and wind energy. I was also  one of the resource persons for the solar and wind energy resource assessment over Bangladesh under the global project of SWERA, funded by UNEP/GEF.  I have completed my B.Sc (hons) and M.Sc in Applied Physics & Electronics (presently renamed as - Applied Physics, Electronics & Communication Engineering) from the University of Dhaka in 1999 & 2000 respectively.
