People say that high school passes you by, and it’s hard to believe them when it’s your first day of freshmen year and you are just wishing that you were graduating the next day. It doesn’t really hit you that high school actually does fly by until you’re a senior in high school and five days away from entering the real world. All of the friends you met, all of the places that you have become accustomed to, all fall to the wayside and a new path is created for you. This path will lead some to success and others to their own demise; it depends on what type of person you really want to be. Kasey Mullen and I met each other freshmen year of high school when I joined the El Segundo High School swim team. I was new to El Segundo, and I didn’t know anyone. Kasey was so kind and warm hearted that she welcomed me with open arms and today we are two of the closest friends. Kasey and I have the most amazing friends, and without them, our lives would be empty. We have had so many fun adventures, if you asked us to list them all, the list would go on forever and you would die of laughter. If Kasey and I could explain one main lesson that we learned in high school, it is one, not to procrastinate, even though it is really hard not to, especially for high school students. Another lesson that we learned in high school is to stay true to your friends. Kasey and I are not fans of drama, and we do anything we can to make our friends happy. If our friends are happy, we are happy. Your friends are the people who will always be there for you. If you’re crying because of parents, other friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, true friends will always be there to make you smile and give you that nice warm hug that you desperately need. El Segundo High School has taught Kasey and me so many lessons and has given us so many opportunities. This school has been our home for the last four years, and it is going to be extremely hard to leave our family behind. Some friends you will see every once in a while, some you will see walking down the street in a foreign country, and some you may even end up working for, but in the end, we all know that we were and always will be EAGLES! |
