The Three Sisters

The Aborigional Legend
The Legend goes that there were once three beautiful sisters Meehni, Wimlah and Gunnedoo. One day they fell in love with three brothers from the Nepean Tribe, yet law forbade them to marry. The brothers were angry to accept this law so they captured the sisters which caused a major tribal battle, meaning the lives of the three sisters were at risk.

A witch doctor from the Katoomba tribe turned the three sisters into stone to prevent them from harm. The witchdocter  planned to turn the sisters back into their normal selves once the war was over but the witchdoctor himself was killed.
The sisters remained forevermore stone as only the witchdoctor could turn them back into their former beauty, and they still stand there today.

How It Was Made
The Three Sisters were made by erosion because of the wind and rain. It is a really soft type of rock called sandstone which is easily eroded away.
