What a great way to start CSW!  SJBS was chosen to be the focus of attention from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for our use of Technology and our Student Council's unique service project.  Mrs. Wilson and our students held a live video conference via SKYPE with Bishop Michael Fitzgerald, Superintendent of Schools, Ms. Mary Rochford and other OCE administrators.  Our students explained their project of sewing tee shirt dresses for young girls in Africa and helped showcase our school's technological capabilities.  Many Thanks to all those parents who donated materials and time to assist our students with this important project.

Innovations in Education”

Award Winning School for Use of Technology

by “Today’s Catholic Teacher”

With a continued reputation for academic excellence and an emphasis on a strong moral foundation, Saint John the Baptist School, is a shining star in Upper Bucks County.

We come from a heritage that embraced education, knowing that it secured the future of the community. Today, we continue that vision as we focus on the most current trends in education and incorporate technology into all academic areas.  Our staff embraces the goal to continue utilizing technology in creative and relevant ways. Two of our teachers, Ms. Capozzi and Mrs. Watson have received the Pennsylvania Keystone Award for their knowledge and use of technology in the classroom. Ms. Capozzi, Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Watson have also offered technology in-service trainings to other educators and parents.

Currently, our school has a complete multi-media lab. Our lab includes state-of-the-art computers with flat screen monitors. All classrooms are equipped with computers, Promethean interactive white boards and computer projectors. A portable cart of laptops is used in all grades. Students and teachers communicate globally using high speed DSL internet services. The children attending St. John the Baptist School benefit from using sets of science monitors with computer enhanced capabilities.  A school network enables easy communication for both students and teachers. The school maintains an active website that includes individual teacher pages.  Parents can find many links to educational sites on these pages that offer ideas to help children succeed. The school incorporates Discovery Streaming, BrainPop, Promethean Planet and other interactive program tools throughout the curriculum. Up-dates to the system and purchasing of new equipment are part of on-going goals that the school takes seriously.

Our students and staff have used the new technology with astounding results.  Student Projects have included creating a new business with all of the creative advertisement materials, individual writing projects, internet collaboration with NASA, and science monitoring of our outside environment. Research has been completed for long term science projects.  These uses are just a small sampling of ways students are using the current technology in school.

Our School Staff and Technology Coordinator have embraced the vision, to continue the goal of educating our students to use technology in creative, safe ways.

Our Technology Coordinator, Ms. Capozzi, has outlined a wish list of items that would help the students and teachers. If interested in making a donation, please contact Ms.Capozzi or Mrs. Zimmerman.

 All donations are tax deductible.

Thank you!
