Diagnosis

• Scoliosis (age 14)
• Basilar Invagination/Retroflexed Odontoid, Platabasia and herniated disk (C6-C7) - Jan 2003
• Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome - Spring 2006
• Herniated disk (C6-C7) was repaired May 2006
• Chiari Malformation - discovered during posterior fossia decompression procedure June 2007
• Obstructive sleep apena, prescribed use of CPAP early December 2007


Symptoms 

occurred sometime on or before February 24, 2008

(issues marked with * began or worsened during or after October 2007):
 

Mental Issues:

• Depression - treated with medication since 1995. Engaged in "talk therapy" off and on since 1998
• trouble with word finding
• losing ability to do math in head
• *frequent lost train of thought
• *forgetfulness

 

Body Issues:

Core Body temperature*

Difficulty maintaining temperature- fluctuates between hot and cold both with and without activity, hot/cold whenothers in the same room are comfortable or the opposite. Feeling hot accompanies head pain, either heat or pain cancome first.

Fatigue

Apatite changes*

• some days very hungry, other days no apatite
• often feel full after just a few bites
• very hungry for sugar
• some foods taste different than before
 

Nasal Issues  

• Stuffy/runny nose brought on by eating and physical exertion
 

Muscles in general

• *Tender to touch and "squeezing"
• "jolting", esp when cold or tired
 

Sleep Issues

• Sleep apnea issues began after c6/c7 fusion in May 2006
• Prescribed CPAP December 2007
• Excessive drooling during sleep both with and without use of CPAP
• Nightmares
• Insomnia

Eyes

• "stabbing" pain (sometimes one, the other or both at the same time)
• sensitive to light (life long issue)
• jerkiness to eyes
• field of vision is grainy both with and without corrective lenses

 

Vision Issues - 

  • In very cold weather develop "tunnel vision" where center of field of vision is clear and outside is out of focus. Clears very slowly upon entering warm place.
  • Vertigo

  •  (Onset began January 2008) brought on my looking straight up or turning head too quickly

Head:

• entire scalp tender. Previously only zipper area, now entire area covered by hair
• heavy, wants to fall forward chin to chest
• heavy eyelids
• pain (some types are lessened by keeping hair short) - tendency is life long,
• current headache began November 2002 and has never receded.
• pressure
• "hat too tight"
• "vice: from sides only
• prickly
• fire
• electric
• forehead sinus pressure and pounding

Hearing and Ear Issues 

• Ear ringing
• Prior hearing tests indicate deficit in processing input  


Yawning

• both eyes water during and after 
• cannot hear during   


Pressure 

Head

• imploding
      • from top like weight of brick   


Face  


• Chest  

• pressure
      • heavy
      • Pain
            • stabbing
            • pressure   


Hands  

all symptoms have exponentially worsened since February 1, 2008)  

• tired
     • stiff
     • lack of coordination
     • trouble with delicate tasks
     • pain in 1st and 2nd joints
            • electric/fire
            • ache
            • joints hurt when fingers spread too far
            • fingertip pads tender 

Back

• pain
            • achy feeing just above hips all way across
            • "stabbing" feeling at level of pant waste band
            • stiff  


Hips

• stiff
      • pain in center of joint  


Legs

• lack of coordination
      • achy tight muscle pain
      • calfs
      • hamstrings
       • *if laying my side, entire bottom leg goes cold, while top leg gets hot  


Knees

• stiff
      • often make cracking noises when standing up from kneeling position
      • pain in center of joint  


Feet

• stiff
      • achy pain in 1st and 2nd joints
      • trouble lifting toes off the floor when walking  


Skin

• sensitive to touch like when a fever is present with the flu
      • dryer than previous all over
      • itchy  


Urination

• frequent
      • lack of control
      • *difficulty starting stream  


Cysts

• (1) on each wrist - removed when young
      • (1) new one on side of right wrist near thumb- developed as result of using rollerball on blackberry, has diminished after curtailed use of rollerball and lessening of typing due to being off work
