Special Industry Message
From Deborah Sexton
Chair, Convention Industry Council
President, Professional Convention Management Association

The Convention Industry Council and its 34 member organizations, representing the breadth of the meetings, conventions, exhibitions and events industry, invite you to participate in an important research effort to determine the economic significance of meetings in the United States. This study is an important step in legitimizing our industry in the eyes of legislators, regulators and economists. This credibility is critical in today's world of sound bite journalism and knee-jerk reaction as we witnessed together following the AIG "gotcha" of 2008.

The Early Bird...
March 18, 2010 Site-SoCalSite SoCal's first breakfast meeting held March 18th got mostly rave reviews for the morning format. We know we lost some of you who weren't able to make the early morning start. Yet, we found that many more loved the timing, leaving the most of the day available to get back to work.

Special thanks to the Marriott Newport Beach for their gracious support of the March Site SoCal breakfast meeting. The hotel enthusiastically offered to host the program, and really impressed all 65 guests with the beautiful springtime décor and unique a-la-carte breakfast offering.

Site-SoCal YLP April 2010
Which fork do I use? What side do I wear my name badge on? These were just a few of the questions that many of our young leaders had at our first 2010 Site SoCal Young Leaders event on Thursday, April, 1st at AVIA hotel in Long Beach.

Our speaker, Constance Hoffman, President of Social & Business Graces, had the answer to all of our questions plus much more. She taught us the proper etiquette, whether hosting a dinner for friends at your home or taking clients to lunch to close a deal. Our six course dinner paired with wines was a step by step lesson on the dos and don'ts of proper etiquette.
