Mike's Minutia

A tiresome story, but alas,  must inevitably be told.

Hi. My name is Mike and I'm here to bitch about stuff that happens to me. Maybe it happens to you too in which case you might sympathize with me and even share your own similar experience.  If, however, you are one of the myriad masses causing my existential mallaise, begone from my sight/site post haste!

Oy vey, what a day. You ever feel like God's just out to get you on certain days? Well in this case, my day started last night when my daughter Grace informed me at 6:30pm that, oh yeah, the final draft of my history project is due tomorrow. Doh! 4 hours later, dad finishes typing in and printing the report. I barely paid attention to "Lost"!

Then today I forget my workout clothes and have to go out at lunch to buy some more. Now I work in Framingham and it completely sucks driving around Route 9 between 11-2 during the week. Idiot drivers everywhere. But I persevere and get my supplies and even have enough time to grab some soup at Whole Foods on the way back to the office.

Freaking Whole Wallet is what they should call that place. They have the balls to try and charge me 15 cents for soup crackers! Next Micky-D's will be charging for ketchup. The soup was yummy however.

Made it home in one piece. After we last spoke, I had a killer workout before heading south. Picked up some food from Pinera Bread on the way home. Also talked to Gracie at home who said Kian (my 14 yr old son) was over my neighborhood with a certain Danny Kelly. Wondiferous ! Told Grace I'd drive KJ back to Mom's (my ex, lives a mile away) since they're probably skateboarding in front of my house. But no KJ when I get home. Notice cellar window is broken from KJ finding a way to get into the house.  I have to call Danny's mom to find out they are down at TJ's (yeah, KJ and TJ, hey why do i all of a sudden want a BJ?). Finally Kian and Danny skate by and I grab em and drop Danny of and head to Mom's. I rented Wolf Creek which is a pretty sick movie and er, I said they could watch it. Hey, it's good friday, right? You should be scared!  Now I'm alone listening to a stream version of Gotan Projects new Cd .. sweet. Maybe Kelly and I will finally figure out how to get our video chat working later.

I am working from Framingham today rather than from home. Busy day, but I got a lot done. I received a forwarded email from my sister this morning. It came from Fionnon, Padhraic's brother over in Ireland (Padhraicis my sister's husband). It pointed to  this site HelpWithThisBet.com. It's pretty funny so I sent it to Kelly and posted it to boston.craigslist.org/rnr for the hell of it. It's gone from appx 200K hits this morning to 1.3 million currently. Caused a bit of a flame war on craigslist as many think it's spam and I'm an idiot =P. But the counter is for real - I checked the source. Who knows, maybe it's bullshyte, still a funny idea though. Off to the gym now.

Here comes Kelly!

June 5, 2006 12:12am

Just a few thoughts about my moring. I had a dental cleaning this morning at my dentist's office in Hingham. It went fine and afterwards I stopped the coffee place downstairs to load up on some caffiene. Since the vist went quick and I had my book (Lonesome Dove which I'm rereading-great book), I decided to sit in the cafe for a bit.

The place had a few sets of moms and their children so it was rather noisy. The families were obviously from Hingham as they reeked of casual money and privledge. One pretty young mother scolded her daughter while she was ordering her a grilled cheese sandwich "Electra, stop running around!". Seriously, who names their daughter Electra? What is she a superhero? Looking out the window at all the Land Rovers, Mercedes and BMW's I spotted an young women - girl really, maybe even a high school senior as they are out of school now, drive by in a BMW 540 series. That is her reality, driving in a monied community in perhaps her graduation present. Boggles the mind. I also noticed a couple of older mother-daughter pairs walking by (mostly because I was checking them out). From behind, it was practically impossible to tell which was the parent and which the child. Ah, plenty of time for the gym and spa for ma obviously. Also it's a bit ironic - the daughers trying so hard to look adult and the mothers the opposite.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against capitalism per-se, it is just tough being "middle-class" and surrounded by so much wealth. And it does seem like the gap between the have's and the have-not's is growing wider and wider in the U.S. I'm user our president is not loosing any sleep over this revolting development.

Just hanging out with Kelly on this Thursday night. We just watched "And God Created Women" for a little while.. pretty cool flick. Bridget Bardot, man think of all those supressed dudes watching that movie with a boner 40 years ago. OK, time for some eq before bt (bed time).

 June 10, 2006 1:26 a.m.

It's official, Reverend Bob will be marrying Kelly and I. Likely we will honeymoon in Paris, though Wimbledon is certainly a possibility.
