Timo Sippala in English
This is my personal home page. Or it will be. I have started the process to transfer all my web material from my own server space into public pages. So there'll be links to other resources on the net, all made by, or related to, me.
In Finnish: suomeksi My blog no-pyccku My Russian has became awfully bad. This is a desperate attempt to keep in alive. Funny enough I still can touch type Russian. | Who I am? I'm a male, born in the first half of 1960's. Previously I was known by the name Timo M Hämäläinen. I used to live in Finland (Oulu, Jyväskylä, Helsinki ...). Then I moved to Singapore, married a local girl, took my mother's last name and moved to Australia with her. I am a native speaker of Finnish. Also I know some English and Russian too. I have existed on the internet since the beginning of 1990's. I was known by the name timaham (TUMAXAM) as a maintainer of Funet Russian Archive ( ftp.funet.fi /pub/culture/russian/). That archive existed from 1992 until 2006. It was removed due to ... development of the internet, and Russia too, and myself. The Soviet National Anthem and Internationale will hopefully still be available somewhere else on the net. Even the email address timaham@nic.funet.fi doesn't work any more, nor the addresses timaham@jyu.fi or timohama@cc.helsinki.fi . My old Funet Home Page might be sometimes online, sometimes offline. Haven't decided for sure yet. Other milestones of my life have been working as an it guy at the Department
of Slavonic and Baltic Languages and Literatures of the University of Helsinki, Finland. Also I have been working as IT manager of CIMO (Centre for International Mobility), for the Finnish Institute for Russian and East European Studies. From 2000 to 2002 I was with the OpenMobile corporation, got the opportunity to work in Singapore and meet lovely people there. All this to be mentioned just in case an old friend is trying to find me. |
