Coaches Checklist: Things To Do and Know

THINGS TO DO: The following MUST be completed by February 28th 2012:

1. _____ Picture and Roster:  send an updated picture and roster to Trudy Driesen (b_tdriesen@shaw.ca) and Mike Campbell (mcampbell@unitychristian.ca).
                All teams must have a roster and picture (team must be in uniform) to Mike Campbell by February 27th.                         Teams who qualify for the provincials and have not sent their picture and roster will receive a $100 fine.  If you have noticed errors in previous programs, contact the tournament chair immediately.

2. _____ Complete the online registration and order form.
 
3 . _____Sign Up for Team Practices: Tuesday March 6th 2012 - Please email Mike Campbell at mcampbell@unitychristian.ca to book your team practice time.  Basketball's will be provided for team practices and for pre-game warm-up. DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN BASKETBALLS!   The times are listed:

THINGS TO KNOW:

**** Our sponsor hotel is the Hampton Inn on the Langley Bypass.  It is important for teams to stay at this hotel, as it helps us afford the costs of refs rooms and such.  It is a beautiful hotel, close to TWU, and has a free hot breakfast. You could book under the "Unity Christian School" block booking.  More info can be found under the "Tournament Accomdation" link on this site.

1. ____ Coaches Meetings:  the coaches meetings are an important part of the tournament.  All teams should have a representative at the meeting relating to your commission.  There are no games scheduled during the coaches meeting.
           a. Tuesday March 6th @ 8:00pm - Mezzanine above the Gymnasium
           b. Saturday March 12th @ 8:00am - Mezzanine above the Gymnasium

2. ____ Banquet
          a. Time: Thursday March 8th @ 6:00 @ TWU

          b.  Banquet tickets must be pre-ordered on the online registration form.

3.____ Entry Fee: There is no entry fee for the tournament.  Players are required to pay for their own tees and banquet tickets. 

4. Coaches Gift: in recognition of the hard work the head coach does for each team, a complimentary provincial championship shirt will be given to each head coach.

5. Coaches VIP Viewing Centre - There will be a coaches only VIP viewing area.
6. All Star T-Shirts:  the All Star T-Shirts will be supplied by Big Kahuna

7. Clothing: All T-shirts are pre-ordered for both fans and teams with the online registration form. 

8. Player Awards
  • After each game a game star will be awarded for each team
  • Five honorable mention awards
  • Five 1st and 2nd team all star awards
  • Players receive trophies and gifts - MVP receives trophy and gifts.
9. Team Awards
  • All teams receive commemorative plaque and a picture
  • Top eight teams will receive permanent trophies for one year.
  • Team photos for the tournament plaque will be taken prior to each team's first game.
10. Ticket Prices
  • $7/day adult.  -  $20 adult tournament pass
  • $4/day student. - $10 student tournament pass
11.Website
  • This website will also be accessible through a link at unitychristian.ca
  • Information will be updated regularly.
  • Game results will be accessible shortly after the completion of each game.
12. Opening Ceremonies
  • Opening ceremonies will be held on Wednesday, March 7th.  The official time of the start is still to be determined.  All teams must attend.  Players must wear their shooter tops.  Teams will enter the gym according to their pre-tournament ranks.
13. Closing Ceremonies
  • All teams must attend the championship game and be present for the closing ceremonies.
 14. Concession
  •  There will be a limited # of items available at the concession in  the gym. TWU has a wonderful cafeteria that is about 150 meters away from the gym.
