Greetings, Second Grade Parents!

The music classroom in the second grade is a very busy place. (So much to learn, so little time!) This year, we will focus on mastering basic rhythmic notation, we will explore music throughout the ages, and we will listen to and begin identifying instruments of all kinds. My focus for this year is to build on what the students have already learned while preparing them for music reading which begins in the third grade.

Final Three Classes
WEEKS 1 & 2: We will actually begin learning a few songs for our fall program. The third grade program is typically soon after school starts in the fall. Beginning to work on our music now will give us some time to at least hear and become familiar with the music before August. This will help tremendously in the fall.

WEEK 3:  For our final week of music, I will allow the students to pick their favorite lessons from the year to revisit for our last music class of the year.
