How to reduce the weight

A Subaru is like Marmite (that black stuff from the Uk which tastes like a grannies armpit). You love or you hate it. The same accounts for a Subaru. Either you think it’s a rice boiling cheap of plastic stinking, ugly car or you know better and love it. Subaru is a brand which you don’t normally consider. You don’t wake up one morning and think, maybe I should get a Subaru.

Same accounts for me. I actually woke up one morning and thought about getting a fast car. So when you think of a fast car you think Audi, BMW and Mercedes. So I checked the web went to dealers and could not really find a car I liked. They were all too heavy and too slow or just too expensive for what they delivered. I drove 2 brand new Mercs before I bought the Subaru. Started with the C Class 180 Sportscoupe. Nice looking from the inside, but slow. Extremely slow to be precise. And the ESP was just annoying me all the time. After 1 year I returned it and made an even bigger mistake. I bought a regular C Class. I don’t know why. It was the worst car ever. The breaking system came from an S Class, but I could not notice any difference to the regular breaks. Every 2 weeks something else broke. I think I had to visit the garage about 8 times before I returned it after 4 month. From that point on I knew what German quality meant (I am German, so I think I can say that).

After the 2 worst cars in my life I had a problem. Which car should I get? Most certainly never a Mercedes again. So one day I went to my parents and there it became obvious. I saw their 10 year old Subaru Impreza station wagon standing in the driveway. How could I have forgotten about Subaru. I drove this Impreza for nearly 5 years and never had a problem. And then I remembered that before that time we even had a Justy and that worked fine all the time too. So I visited a Subaru garage, saw the new face, thought its ugly, asked how much it is, took a brochure and went home. After reading it, I decided to give it a go and test-drive on. Once the engine started I knew what I had to do. I ordered one straight away.

So now it sounds like I bought a car which looks ugly. Well I got used to the face after a while and now I actually like it. Maybe my mind is cheating me. But driving one is just one of the best ways to experience what the fuzz is all about. Go to a dealer, take a ride and always remember, you think it’s fast in the beginning but you get used to the acceleration and soon you want more. Subaru is the ideal brand if you really want more. There are so many aftermarket parts that you will always find what you are looking for.
