
| | On Nov 2, a flock of white doves was released
as the Olympic Torch passed through the community
in front of the Bowser Legion.
The first dove was released by John Lyotier,
in memory of his wife Barb.
Six teenagers from the area then released
6 doves, symbolizing the Olympic motto -
"Citius, Altius, Fortius" (faster, higher, stronger)
and our wishes for the future -
" Peace, Unity and Love".
These were followed by a flock of 14 doves
representing the community.
The combined flock created a
"21 Dove Salute"
from the flag pole at the Bowser Legion
to the spirit of the 2010 Olympics.

Val's Daughter and her new husband welcome their lives together by releasing 2 doves
Their parents released a dozen doves each to symbolize the joining together of the families.
The birds all circled and then flew off over the golf course together.

After singing "Oh Canada" at the 2009 Parksville Canada Day ceremonies,
Jenny released a white dove, followed by a flock in celebration of Canada's birthday.

Heather released the single dove toward the ocean
a basket of 5 doves was released representing the family
another basket of 5 doves was released by friends
they flew over the water, gathered in a big circle, and flew off to home.

On Oct 26 2008, Ten White Doves were released for a remarkable lady,
Elizabeth Sueter.
One dove for each of her ten decades.
