Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects 2. People ahead of you have the right-of-way. It is YOUR responsibility to avoid them! 3. Y ou must not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above. 4. Whenever starting downhill or merging onto a trail, look uphill and yield to others. 5. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment. 6. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas. 7. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely. EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED! LOOK AHEAD! PLAN AHEAD! SKI AND SNOWBOARD DEFENSIVELY! LET'S HAVE A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE SEASON IN 2011 Group Lessons are available for people who are just coming up for the day, Be sure to bring your papers and have them all filled out and signed. You do not need to bring a form for rentals filled out and signed unless your parent will not be with you. If you are coming with friends be sure to have your form signed by your parent before you leave home. Bring exact change in cash for your entire party and any guests you have signed up. When you enter you will find chairs around the room. Let your family be seated to wait for you to progress through the line. There is no reason for your entire group to stand in the line. You will turn in the Ski Patrol AND Lesson Liability by stacking them with others of the same kind on the first table, but KEEP your RENTAL Agreement with you. The next step is to pick up your tickets, paying in cash (lump sum for your entire party), and your Rental Agreement gets stapled to a printed computer paper that has to be produced by the rental department that very morning whenever they choose to do so. The lift tickets will have the "Group Lesson" sticker for a lesson, "Tubing" sticker for the tubing hill, or a "RENTAL" stickers will signify that you have paid for rental equipment. Please make sure that everything is correct before you leave the table! The lift tickets come in three printings...1. Group Lift (good for both the gondola ride and the lifts).....2. Group Ride ($5 gondola ride, not good for skiing)...3. 6 and under (the free ride and lift ticket for little persons who are 6 years old and under) Look carefully before attaching these tickets to your ski clothing. Attach with the zip tie through the small hole at the top of the lift ticket but be sure that you have the right one for each person if some are tubing and some are not, for example. The Waterpark arm bands have a button that locks them on for the day. You can fold over the end to shorten them before buttoning, but be sure that you have it on the arm before you button it. There are no extras provided! Food vouchers resemble lift tickets, but say "food voucher" and have the menu on the back side of it. Then you are ready to proceed to the gondola. Janelle will endeavor to be ready to begin at 8am and the gondola begins operation at 8:15am. It's a half hour ride to the Mountain Haus and then you get in line for the rental shop. Remember to be patient when our numbers are large. We are paying a fraction of the cost of this experience and must show our gratitude by the way we treat the staff while we are there. Please remember this at all times. Respect and honor these folks and they will return it to us. If you have any questions please write to Janelle at bjrstarr@yahoo.com If she doesn't know the answer she will get it for you, but please don't call the mountain. We were told that this program is a first. They would rather not have all of the staff aware of our pricing or our program at this time so, since they are mostly uninformed, they will not be able to answer you and it will create some misunderstandings or confusion within the staff. AS AN ADULT AND MEMBER OF OUR GROUP, PLEASE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ON THE MOUNTAIN. WATCH OVER THEM AND HELP THEM WHEN NEEDED AND GUIDE THEM IN LEARNING THE PROPER PROCEDURES AND POLICIES ON THE MOUNTAIN! MAKE ME PROUD TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH YOU ALL! THANK YOU! RULES AT MOUNT SPOKANE for Thursdays Mt. Spokane night skiing ends in March but our tickets are good from open to closing! Remember registration deadline for skiing is Monday at 8:00 pm! I set up at a table at the top of the stairs or under the stairs in the right hand end of the loft area of the cafeteria of lodge #2 all the way at the end of the road and I try to be prepared by 8:30am to meet everyone there with all paperwork, rental forms, and lift tickets. Come to me first to get your paperwork before going to the rental shop. The rental shop opens at 8:30 and lifts open at 9am.! If you are one of those who just can't make up your mind that early in the week or you want to wait on the weather report, then be prepared to pay $5 additional per person late fees! Lower priced tickets are for our members who are willing to commit BEFORE the deadline and BEFORE they know what the weather will be like on that day. Thank you to those dedicated folks!!! YOU are the ones that make this program possible and KEEP it operating year after year! THERE ARE FOUR THINGS THAT YOU MUST DO TO BE A PART OF THIS PROGRAM. #1. BE THERE- If you sign up...show up with a smile. Remember ANY day skiing is better than the best day working! Make the most of your time with your family whether it's skiing together or sipping cocoa and waiting out the rain in a warm lodge playing cards or board games. Make it a special outing with great memories. Some of our fondest memories are of times spent with friends in the lodge many years ago. Enjoy every moment. It is imperative that the numbers that we turn in are present. If you or someone you are supposed to bring is not coming, they're ill, car broke down, whatever the reason...let them know that they can jeopardize the program for everyone by not fulfilling our promise to the mountain staff. For this reason a penalty system is enforced --- if someone signs up and does not show up twice they will be notified that they are no longer welcome to join us. Bad weather is NEVER a good reason for not showing up!!! Period! Keep in mind that I have to be there no matter what because YOU signed up !!! We get these great prices because we promise them numbers! Be there to fulfill the obligation that you created!!! Arrive no later than 10 am and realize if you are late for lessons you forfeit them. For lessons you must be in the area next to the bottom of chair 5 to meet with instructors 15 minutes prior to your appointed lesson time. (6 week classes usually begin at 10am while single day student's beginner lessons begin at 10:30-- all others will usually begin at 1pm) Allow time to pick up needed equipment, and remember that at times the lines can be quite long and you might miss your lesson if you do not plan ahead. Better to be early than to miss out entirely. #2. BRING EXACT CHANGE IN CASH FOR YOUR ENTIRE PARTY- No credit cards or checks!! I go the extra mile to bring you these prices, you can go the extra mile for me to help things flow more smoothly in the lines with exact change for your entire party when you get here. Everyone will thank you! Keep it simple...if the last names are different, group the money together by last names. * For Students (6-17 years old) - 6 year olds are now allowed within the program and I can't take any students younger than 6 years any more. No rentals of snowboards until they are 7 years of age. * Full package- youth lift and rental All Mountain Youth lift ticket (even good for night skiing when available), rental of skis or snowboard, and free 2 hour group lesson --- $20 * All Mountain Youth Lift and 2 hour Group Lesson combo for those with their own gear - $15 One All Mountain Youth Lift ticket is $10 * For Adults (18 years and up) - these prices will be a little more than usual because we are a youth program and as such the better deals are given to the youth. Full package for beginner adults (All mountain Adult lift, 2 hour group lesson with the kids, and ski or snowboard rental) Usually adds up to nearly a hundred dollars, but we pay $30 * Adult Lift ticket and rental combo (OR lift and lesson combo for those adults with their own gear) - would cost a minimum of $60, but our group charge is $25 All mountain Adult lift tickets sell for at least $32, but we will be paying just $15 this year For 5 years and under we no longer process them at all within the program. If you choose to use the mountain's program for 6 and under here are their prices, but do not send me their names for our list. You must handle their paperwork downstairs when you get there. There is no sign up list needed. Here's their program just for your information: * Free Chair 5 Lift tickets Rental $16 - no snowboard rentals for 6 years and under Private Lesson $49 per hour as available * Group Lessons are no longer available for 5 years and under NOTE: There is no "rental and lift only" combo available for 7-17 year olds...as students the mountain assumes that when they are renting, they are most likely fairly new to the sport. They also realize that if money is tight, a lesson would be skipped to save money. This IS a student program and lessons are a part of it. So the lessons for the students are INCLUDED in their rental price. It is then their parent's option whether or not they participate in the free lessons. Be sure to specify your level when you are registering for a class. #3. BE ON YOUR BEST BEHAVIOR- Remember you are representing our group. Be polite, courteous, and helpful on the slopes and in the lodge. No bad language, please. Be a blessing to the people working at Mt. Spokane so that they enjoy our being here and are happy to give us this great program year after year. Be responsible for your guests. IMPORTANT--Don't invite guests who might compromise our reputation and possibly even cost us the program! Thank you!!! #4. Please use the form to register, and do so well in advance of our 5:00 PM (Tuesday) deadline. This does NOT mean 4:55 on Tuesday night! If you sign up that late there is a chance you might leave off pertinent information and miss the deadline or your server may delay the send just long enough to cost you money! Sign up at least five hours in advance of the deadline to allow for my reply without panic setting in! If you need to email me: info@ski.dancestarr.com or bjrstarr@yahoo.com **Don't wait till the last minute to sign up. Sign ups close at 8pm MONDAY evening. Don't assume you are on the list until you receive a reply. You must email me after you fill out the forms or you won't receive a confirmation. It is a reply that is your confirmation. You WILL receive a confirmation email within 5 hrs. or less. If you do NOT (in 5 HRS) THEN it is your responsibility to email me directly at bjrstarr@yahoo.com If your situation changes and you need to add on someone to your party after the deadline Tuesday night be prepared to pay an additional $5 per person late fee... this includes extra people that you might bring with you on that day. I can purchase the extra tickets, but the bargain prices go to the ones willing to commit to Thursday ON Monday...prior to KNOWING what the weather is like!!!! I'm not responsible for emails which are lost or delayed. All I can go by is whether they arrive at my mailbox BY the deadline or not. I do apologize for the problems that can occur with email procedures, however there is no remote possibility that I could maintain the list any other way. When it works, it works great. If my email should go down for any reason, it will be impossible to fulfill the obligations to Mt. Spokane and our program will have to be put on hold until we can communicate properly once again. If you send a message...please tell me: * Your phone number, just in case there is a problem or question***** * Date that you are coming***** * Names (first and last) of each person in your group****** * Ages (anything over 17 needn't admit their age, just say adult- but all others should be listed)- please don't list youth under 6 any more. You will have to take them to skier services now****** * Renting or not****** * Skis or snowboards (which one?)******Remember - must be 7 years to rent snowboards *EXAMPLE: This allows me to copy the information quickly and easily!!! Your help with this is very important! 208-765-7222 DECEMBER 7TH JOHN DOE, ADULT, RENTING SKIS JANE DOE, ADULT, LIFT ONLY JIMMY DOE, 12 YRS, LIFT AND INTERMEDIATE LESSON ON SNOWBOARD Your friends are welcome TO ACCOMPANY YOU once or twice during the season, but you are responsible to sign them up and to cancel for them if they are not coming.
